Alright, now when is there going to be a kid locked in the trunk, and who will ever need to use the internal trunk release. Its not like you can fit through the ski hole in the back seat.

This came in handy for me the other day. I had to take out this **** talking troll and put him in the trunk. Totally forgot about the emergency trunk release. Luckily it broke so things kind of took care of themselves

Wow that is a real issue, especially for families with children who love to mess around, I know I used to hide in the trunk for fun as a kid.

wow they guys at CR really has it out for Lexus. They couldn't find anything wrong with the car so they are nit picking stupid trunk latch? Screw it!!! Let Darwinism prevail and let the slow and stupid of the population thin themselves out.

I wonder what "issues" they would find on german and domestic craps.

PS. I heard that next week CR is going to file a complain with NTSB because the door handle get too cold when the temperature drops and there might be a danger of people's hand freezing

^ lmao...

and here is the kid that will get into the trunk and be strong enough to pull with the same amount of force as they did in the test....wouldn't the "appropriate" test involve a child?

Hmm - not sure I agree with that sentiment. What if a kidnapper stows somebody's child (or grown up for that matter) in the trunk of their car? I'd certainly want this emergency release to work and not break when somebody needs it.
Me - I'm glad that CR tested this, and hopefully Lexus will fix this asap.

what was I thinking, we do live in kidnap capital of the world and we all know the kidnaper like to use lexus because faulty trunk release design... come on if your so afraid you should never go out your door. You have a better chance of getting hit by airplane. OMG HOW DID WE EVER DRIVER BEFORE THEY STARTED PUTTING IN TRUNK RELEASE!

Its strange how CR doesn't mention anything about faulty fuel pump system on the BMW (this was a problem for years) and the main crankshaft failure on new 5 series. So I guess not being able to get out their trunk way more important then your engine giving out and be stuck on the middle of the frwy?

Hey guys while you feel that CR is ragging on Lexus here, it is in the consumers best interest that they find these faults. I for one am happy they called it out and hope Lexus issues a recall to address it. Even if the chance of my child getting locked in my trunk is a thousandth of a percent, I'm all for improving the likelihood that he'll get out if it does happen.
