P1349 VVT System Malfunction (Bank 1b) blocked oil control valve filter
Vehicle Lexus GS300 / Aristo V300 JSZ161 2JZ-GTE 1997 114,000kms fault code P1349 B1 due to blocked oil control valve filter
Part required 15678-46020 2JZGTE..JZS161; 2JZGE..JZS160..5FC 1 $5.61
Remove filter and clean with compressed air / fuel / brake cleaner or similar screen should be clear
This filter is 100% blocked
VVTi Oil control valve filter location OCV
Toyota originally introduced the VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing - intelligent) as a revolutionary design that increases engine torque and output while addressing environmental issues. By adjusting the intake valve opening timing according to the engine speed, more oxygen is supplied through the air intake valve as more fuel is injected into the combustion chamber. Power and torque is maximised due to larger scale combustion. This optimised fuel to air ratio ensures the air-fuel mixture is combusted more thoroughly.
The VVT-i portion of the system continuously varies intake valve timing throughout the rev range by hydraulically rotating the camshaft relative to its drive gear.

m sc has p1349 code
I followed your directions my filter was clogged and I uncloged it. I'm waiting for the driving cycles to finish ill update when they are done. however what do I do next if the code comes back?

If it's really old I would just suggest you replace it instead of cleaning it. The filter housing is made of plastic and it might get brittle and break into pieces. Then those pieces might make it into the VVTi sysetm. They're only $5 a piece, so do what you will
