Default Trying to find a good Double Din

Hey guys Im looking to buy a good quality double din in the near future, but dont know what to get exactly. Ive heard that there are problems with certain models like for example, Pioneer has a slow load up time and sometimes the navigation screws up. I was just wondering if you guys could post up what you have and any problems you might have had with it or something that you dont like about it. If you have heard about other DDs with problems please post it too. If you could suggest a nice DD that would be great. Thanks!

BTW I know theres a thread about double dins, but that was just more of a showoff thread and I didnt get much help going through it.

EDIT: I am leaning towards the Pioneer Avic Z110bt right now, but would like to know if theres any other units that are detachable.

I personally have Eclipse and it works fine. Quite reliable.

Only thing is that the Eclipse HU's LCD is not as clear as Pioneer when watching movies.

Other then that, eclipse has treat me well.

I really like the Eclipse AVN6620. The think I like most about it is that its one of the only motorized 2DIN's that is actually flush mounted giving it the clean OEM look. Another good feature is that it has built in GPS. Unlike the Alpine which you have to buy separate.

I have the Pioneer AVIC-D3 in my Escalade, works great no problems. The only potential drawback is you have to have the Bav disc in to bavigate, otherwise you need to put the route in ahead of time, it is the saved into memory, then you can put a disc in there. The upside is the iPod interface is flawless. Personally I don't watch bideo in the car much at all. So it works well for me.

In the GS U have the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT. Ipod interface is good, you can play music ot video from an SD cars slot, no disc for nav, and built in blue tooth and coice command. It is a little slow at times, but not enough to bother me. Upside is it's hackable. there are tons of mods/hacks out there, all can be done with the SD card...even the video bypass is softwear hackable.

I suppose you need to buy based on the features you want. I have owned Eclipse stuff in the past, and it is rock solid. The newer Kenwood stuff shines as well. Really any of the big brands will give you good quality. Just stay away from the BS like Jensen/Dual etc.

I have the Pioneer D3, and just like GCOP said you have to be swapping discs in and out for the nav to an audio cd or dvd. the start up time is quite slow as well. also the bluetooth does not work with a lot of cell phones, or maybe it is just the carrier i have that doesnt work well with the Pioneer. and lastly, the nav disc is from 2007, i have yet to find a newer disc.

If you are looking for something that is an all in one without any separate components (i.e. Bluetooth, USB/iPod), go with the Kenwood DNX8120. They are discontinued now with all the new models out so finding one for a discount will be easier. I went with this one because the maps are stored on the harddrive, it loads way faster than my AVIC, and has the bluetooth and USB/iPod built in. The DNX7140, I believe, is the replacement.
