Default UCA Hole, finally did it.

I just got new coils and lowered my car a bit more. I didn't really realize how close my UCA was to the body.I tried sticking my hand in there and could barely fit my fingers between. I kept bottoming out on little bumps. I drive alot and this is my DD so I had to get rid of this problem. Raising the ride height is a stupid solution. Here's the cut. Clean and simple, and fits perfectly!

Is there a market for a cutout template for the UCA and a cover? I can possibly get some custom covers made if there is interest. I dunno, just an idea

Can't believe you cut in the engine bay like that.. I would definitely make some customs covers for those..

Because the area your cutting isnt a flat surface so hitting it with a crcular saw might give oyu jagged edges. ANother user posted pictures of his cutouts and no offense, but the cuts were really bad looking. Of course it doesnt matter though once you cover it up.

Hensen, my freind can make custom carbon fiber covers that can go with the shape over the area of the cutout, so its flush and not a box cover. I just need enough people to be interested for him to make them. You could then put it on with 3m tape(or drill holes and mount it) and paint over the carbon fiber or leave it as is.

Isn't there a possibility that the opening could tear open further?

my friend told me that if it's a square or rectangle or triangle...there's a chance that it could open further. so a circle shape would hold up nicely from what i was told.

I've been meaning to clean them up a bit and throw a little paint. Just been to lazy. They do the job until I get them sealed up. You can see I miss calculated on the driver side. Hope it helps who ever wanted to do this.

dro, when you cut the hole, how much additional room did you get when you air out completely?

I cut them out awhile ago. The ball joints protrude a little out of the hole, how much I don't exactly know. The arms may still rest a bit on the body but the holes did exactly what I needed them to do. No more clanking when riding dumped.

You can see on the 1st pic the indentation right on the top and scrapes from all the banging around.
