Default Please Help, Issue with Radio!

Hi guys, I have an 02 GS430 with 99,000 miles on it. It has the navigation Mark Levinson system. A week ago, the radio volume button doesn't work neither does the steering wheel volume control work. Also, on the touchscreen, the EQ buttons are grayed out. Then, after maybe like 10 minutes of driving, it starts working again. But its very sporadic, the volume will not go up or down again. Please tell me whats wrong!!

Yeah, that's what I was figuring. I had given my parents my '03 GS430...I originally had it all decked out and rewired into the stock system...but stripped it back to stock when I gave it to them.

So about a month ago, they said it started acting funny... like static, and no audio.... I thought it might have been something I had done. But checked it all out to no avail, I did take out some extra wiring for auxilary input... but what's funny is that there is audio, but can't control it...whether through the dial or the steering controls. The ASL is missing...and can't change any of the audio EQ stuff.

However, what's really weird is that there is a "beeping" noise every 4-5 seconds... whether the audio is on or not...so I'm not sure if that's all together a different problem.

yea had those exact symptoms - no asl button, eq is gray and would reset itself on every start up. After a week of those started hearing light popping sounds and after a few days I never heard my ML sound again....R.I.P.

BTW, any pics of that e55?

Ah...saw this thread I guess beeping noise is also a symptom of a bad amp - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...rom-radio.html

Anyways, does anyone know if a SC430 ML amp is the same? I see plenty of SC430 ones on ebay for sale... not too many GS 430 ML amps.

Yeah guys, it sucks, but i think it's a bad amp. Lexus wants $1800 for a new one? lol, they're crazy! I hear you can get a refurbished one from the dealer if you give your old fried amp to them. Some sort of exchange program which is supposed to be $700. That's still too much!! I hear a shop in Georgia repairs them. You send them you're old amp, and they send you a repaired one that they have in stock. I talked to the owner of the shop and he said they charge $450 for this service. I might go that route.

Oh, and by the way, i hear these things fail frequently, and are bound to fail sooner or later on all Mark Levinson systems
