Default Removing NAV in a 2003 GS430

Is it a simple swap harness/dash wise to ditch factory nav for the non-nav components? I'd much prefer to use an aftermarket deck and 10yr old nav is pointless when you have a phone that can do a better job. Has anyone done this? Does anyone want to swap their non-nav stuff for my nav stuff?

You can find those easily on eBay for a decent price.

Yup. The climate control harnesses are the same for Nav and Non-Nav.

does the factory harness for the radio plug into the adapter harness for the new radio? wouldn't the factory ML have to be bypassed or would it work by just plugging the new radio into it?

The climate control portion is plug and play. The aftermarket radio section will be like installing an aftermarket radio in a navigation equipped GS. That means the ML amp and more than likely speakers will need to be bypassed and replaced. Obviously, anything can work, just it would be a PITA and not really worth integrating the ML amp and speakers with an aftermarket deck.

Awesome, that makes the swap pretty simple. The HVAC units are kinda spendy so maybe I can trade my nav stuff for one, or sell it on ebay to fund it...

i see, so might as well keep the factory nav and ac control, cause it looks soo much better than the non nav controls, and add a flip out in the section where the audio controsl are for the nav equipped cars. atleast that's what i plan on doing.

like others said climate control units from a non-nav GS are like $50-80. Plugs are the same, so what would be costly?

yea, that's it, except it'll be a flip-out screen(alpine). I'm doing all the work myself so it's no trouble. just gotta figure out if i can tap the factory wires for the speakers or if i have to run new wires.
