makes sense because I changed them last night and this am on the way to work the CEL came back on.
so to recap I've replaced the Fuel pump/filter, O2 sensors and switched back to a stock airbox. I'm going to pull the code again after work to see if it's the same.
if I get the same codes I'm thinking the fuel pressure regulator and bypass relay?

also how are the cylinders numbered on this car? I've done a ton of searching with 0 results that are of any use.
edit: I hate this car. it is about impossible to find anything of use online for it.

Stop throwing money at it and bring it to the dealer...it will probably be cheaper in the long run. Have them diagnose but not fix if you want to save as much as possible.

Well I think I found the problem. so I went to pull the PCM and guess what. There is a unit quoted into the PCM labeled Swift Racing Computer. I suspect this is the source of the problem. I will be calling them in the morning.
Anyone have experience with these?

I had a similar sounding problem with my older, 95 Lexus. It was "smothering down" for a lack of a better term...It would run fine, then just slow down to a halt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, and it would run fine for a while, then do it again.
My mechanic said that it was the power steering fluid. It needed draining instead of just replacing. After he did that, he let it sit and run for a couple of hours. He said it only stopped once and after he cleared a code, it didn't stop again. The car is running again just fine. I'm not mechanically savvy, so I hope this makes sense. The fan was running, but it could be easily stopped with your hand. After he replaced the power steering fluid, the fan kept it's normal speed. The computer would think it was over heating and shut it down. I have no clue why the power steering fluid made a difference. Just telling ya what he said....

what's strange is I let my dad take it to "his guy". he had it for a few days said it was something internal and would need thousands. well after we picked it up the car has been running like a champ since. I mean better than ever before, very strong.
