GS - 3rd Gen (2006-2011) Discussion about the 2006+ model GS300, GS350, GS430, GS450H and GS460

Just a thought, maybe there is no GS 460, instead GS 500?

Cool Just a thought, maybe there is no GS 460, instead GS 500?

Just a thought. There are rumors of there being an IS 500 coming for over a year now. Nothing is confirmed but it is odd Lexus has the new 3.5 blasting in the new ES/RX and IS but is mum on the GS.

THey do seem to be concentrating on the GS 450h and giving it the publicity now. I figure in a year after that car's initial hype, then the GS 350 comes.

Then there is GS 450h

Now the GS 460, numerically wise, is only ten points higher. Also, Rockville has stated there are no plans for a GS 460.

Maybe, just MAYBE, a GS 500 is on the way?

Pure speculation but if the IS 500 is in the making, why not a GS 500? I cannot see Lexus developing an engine for ONE car.

And didn't the LF-A, press release say, engine under 5 liters, making 500hp?

Maybe they will spread the possible LF-A engine around, to help costs??

JUst a thought. Just a thought.

ummm, so a gs500 together with is500 as the "sport" version of the series? ummm, but does that mean they will discontinue the gs430 this fall and wait until the gs500 before we see it (if it comes)? coz' the gs430 won't sell anymore, with the gs350 having more hp, faster, and for much less money, right?

as for 500 engine, i honestly don't think we will see it on the gs/is before we see it on the ls. the ls460 is coming out this fall, at the fastest we will see 500 engine next yr (in the ls600h?). so that would still mean 1 yr gap between the gs430 and the gs500?

I want to follow the usual Lexus logic of things but as of late, they kind of are being a little unpredictable with things.

8 speed auto for instance. THey just made a 6 speed

I don't think so Mike, if there's a GS500/LS500, it's going to be another couple years down the road. As for the 6 speed, they are building it for all Toyota/Lexus, just want to upgrade the LS460 with the 8 speed for more exclusivity initially. I think we are getting way ahead of ourselves

Also I thought the LF-A will use a V10 if they build it ? A V10 in the LS & GS will be a real performance division car .

.
Look at the GS300? What other car has the GS300 engine? None in Toyota, None in Lexus. So they made an engine for one car for only one or 2 years depending if the 2007 is a GS350 or the 2008 is.

Default I will find out a lot more in April at the GS450h intro

training in Parsippany. One of my best engineering contacts at Lexus will be there. I've already warned him what to expect....I think the GS460 was planned as evident by the trademark registration but I think it just got put on "Hold" for some reason. remember when the GS first came out and there was confusion about the GS300 or GS350 coming? First we got the GS300 as it turned out and now the GS350 is on deck. A GS500 with a really good suspension would be a great competitor to the Euros. When I ask the factory about the GS460's I just get a shake of the head. It may not be a priority as the V6 is the bulk of the GS sales now. They have a lot up their sleeves after the LS460 in October so maybe they just need to settle down to decide what powerplant to use in the GS beside the 3.5 and hybrid versions.

BMW has a mid-sized sedan with a V10, audi has a midsize and a full size with a V10... when lexus "brings it" they ****ing BRING IT so I would say that a V10 GS is not so outlandish.
