Default Do you know how to replace side view mirror?

Just hit a branch hanging from the tree and the side view mirror busted.
Does anyone knows how to replace the mirror?
What is the cost of the part?
Any info appreciated.

Did you break just the mirror glass or the whole housing assembly?

To replace the whole mirror assembly, the door panel needs to come off to access the 3 nuts holding the mirror to the door and to disconnect the wire harness. It's not that hard to do. Just be careful not to break any of the little fasteners that hold the panel to the door. As for cost, get it from Darrel at www.lexus-parts.com
Give him the VIN and he will give you the price. It will come already painted. I would think it would cost less than $250.00 for the whole mirror assembly.
If you let the dealer do it, I'm sure the ransom would be well north of $600.00

Thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate
I recheck the situation and discovered only the outer shell of the housing was busted and it look like you can snap in the whole piece in place with a new plastic part only. All other parts are functioning fine and there are no other damages.
Wonder if I can only order that part. Any suggestion? Thanks

I have a feeling they only offer the entire mirror assembly or just the mirror glass itself as replacement parts. But check with Darrel or your local dealer.
Good luck.

Just back from the dealer. They charge $650 for one side view mirror. It only comes with three parts. Mirror, light, and whole housing unit.
The housing unit is $650. Guys, better take care of those outside mirrors. Use the button to fold them in when parked.
FYI....

Like I said in an earlier post, give Darrel at www.lexus-parts.com a call. Guarantee he has a lower price. Unless you don't want to change it yourself, then you will have to pay the kings ransom at the dealership.

My side mirror folding function is not working and I can hear the gear grinding.
So while trying to get to the gear, the first thing I had to do was to remove the mirror glass,
and it came off without too much difficulty. But I must admit that the whole time,
I felt like I was going to crack the glass, but didn't.

I had more trouble putting the glass back on then to remove it. Check out these videos:
