Talking Custom Exhaust Finally Installed

HAHA...

Well after several months I have finally installed my rims, BBK, Exhaust, ect...

waiting on the shop to email me pics but here is a little camera phone pic for now. Its not loud at all and I was expecting it to be. Its a True Dual Pipe all the way back custom made by Ill Garage for me. I will post up the info and pics for those that are still looking. The did a great job with everything today!!!

^ they actually are no lower then the OEM set up. They are just all shinny so they show more. It follows the same path and all. I would bottom out my car if I hit the exhaust. Not that its not possible but I am sure I will be fine. I will try to get some sound clips later in the week. So far its not really that loud IMO but looks nice and the weight is much less then OEM even with the two pipes all the way back. I am happy with what they did for me.

Default pipe

guys please educate me...
what's the point of changing exhaust pipe? does it boost performance in any way?

Thanks!

It may increase airflow, but since our GS's do not have aftermarket headers it is kind of pointless. The obvious trio would be an intake, headers, and exhaust. Furthermore imo exhausts truly compliment cars that have forced induction, on a GS its mostly just for looks and sound. Last but not least NA motors that have aftermarket exhausts such as a full catback tend to lose a little bit of torque, but gain mostly from mid to top end. I am not sure about Passnu's "True Dual Exhaust" but I would assume that the same would apply. Hope that helps

I did not Dyno and I am sure I dont have any gains but I wasnt able to really get on the car yesterday...

I have an intake to install along with the Apex to tune the car....

Main reason is I am going to boost the car and the exhaust will help me more down the road. For now its more looks and sound then anything else and I dont drive an ISF or anything close to that! lol...Just having some fun that's all

When u mentioned Apex, are u steaking of the exhaust ( as in like a N1 ) or the SAFC II ( or whatever iteration they are at now ).

If u are speaking of the SAFC, do we know if our car can be tuned with it by dyno, since it's almost impossible to dyno our cars?? I had one on my 300Z and that made a huge difference in gain on my car, and would do it again if it were doable.

Passnu2,

What do you mean by "True Dual Exhaust"??? Looking at your initial pics, i would assume that this is a custom cat or axle back system with 2 1/2- 3" pipe design. How about the muffler??

Your Matador is looking meaner

I will find out one way or another. I am having the car tuned for the exhaust and intake in the next week or two here. I am trying this and if all goes well then I am going to start the boost project. I first want to see how the car responds to this.

and yes I meant the SAFC not the exhaust. I have nothing of theres for my exhaust all though I like the sound they have to offer on the 2gen. My exhaust is pretty mild for the most part. Has a nice "sport" tone to it. You wont hear me blocks away. I did expect a little more sound but it seems to be getting louder as I drive it more?? Well I guess I can also drive the car now that its done and I can really open it up

once I have more time to stop out I will let you know what I can come up with and if its worth it for anyone else.

Ya, it's a tight fit especially for bigger 2 1/2- 3" pipes. It will definitely free up air flow.
