extended warranty for gs300 awd?
I began getting stuff in the mail about extending the factory warranty that is about to expire. they are supposedly limited time offers and i have like a week or two to respond. i currently have < 39k miles and i think the factory goes through april 2010. i've had no major problems with the car since buying it a little over 2 months ago with 35,xxx miles on it. it's mechanically sound according to the lexus technicians. it has nav and levinson on it..and auto windshield sensor wiper. is this something i should purchase the warranty for?
typically i'm against extra insurance....decline it when i rent cars. i have a high deductible on my car insurance to keep the premium low since the odds of me getting into a collision where it's my fault are low to none.
if you do recommend getting the warranty, are there any providers i should look into? do they have the type of insurance where i get the premium back minus a small deductible? i had something like that when i bought a corolla back in 1994! and was offered such a policy when buying a new crv from honda last yr.

is lexus offering the warranty, or is it some random company? does it look like a generic letter, or does it have your vehicle make/model/vin on it? there are a lot of vehicle warranty companies soliciting hard core right now. i got somethin in the mail the other day too, and my warranty has been up for 6 months now.

got two pieces of mail. both seem to be from non-lexus sources and somewhat shady... looks a lot like those home mortgage refinancing ads.
so is 1,500 a good price? how long is it for? 4 yrs, upto 100k?

if you search around here about extended warranties, someone posted some guys info that works for lexus up in the boston area i believe that does good deals on extended warranties. i believe 1500 was the 4yr/100k extended warranty, or maybe it was 1800. i dunno i cant remember. either way though think how much parts cost alone. its worth it.

Here is the contact i just purchased mine through. I ended up buying a 7 year 100k warrant for a very competitive price through lexus.
Toby was awesome, timely and very responsive.

If you are buying extended warranty, do it only through your dealership. You might save $400-$500 buying it from outside company, but will loose thousands at the end since they will most likely have coverage limitations. I just hit 45k miles on my '07 3GS (one month shy of 3 years of driving it). Definitely will be buying extended 3yr-4yr/100k platinum extended warranty. The cost is about $2k.

G-man, thanks for the link!!! Just requested info from Troy. Oh and my reply above was directed at original poster who got some questionable stuff in the mail. I got the same thing from some 3rd party, promising you to save money over dealership cost. But the link you provided looks like legitimate Lexus Platinum/Gold plan. Will let you guys know what I find out and the cost of the plan

Are they going to send you an official certificate or letter from Lexus that your VIN# is under extended factory warranty?

I purchase my extended warranty from Greenfield Toyota in MA early this year at a very good discount, but I heard the guy doens't work there anymore. I did receive a certificate for the Lexus extended warranty - Platinum program.
