Exclamation OUCH! GS350 Impact

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but it is about a 3GS.

Well, it only took 3 months of GS350 ownership before someone crashed into my GS350...

How does it look?

Thumbs down

It does look expensive, doesn't it...

I wish the guy had insurance.... NO insurance, NO valid registration for his vehicle, SUSPENDED driver license...

Good thing I have insurance, I suppose....

That truly sucks, he should be banned, ya that looks really expensive. Make sure the insurance doesn't try to go the cheap route.

Agreed, it doesn't look like a crumpled up tin foil at least.

That really sucks, a girl rear ended me in a parking lot..... While I was taking a test, the security guard came out writing up my information and I was thinking he was writing me a ticket. I gave him a hard time until he explained what had happened, and just like YOU...... Girl had no insurance, no valid registration, a suspended license. She was driving her father's car so his insurance covered me.... Needless to say the damage was nowhere near you and I got a fat $1700 check.

Couldn't agree with you more..... Make sure they blend the red right, otherwise you'll have a spot that looks very odd.

The good thing is you are alright and no injuries!

The car althought the damage doesnt look to bad, not enough to total out the car. The crappy thing is its going to get logged into carfax that your car has frame/unibody damage because the replacement of that 1/4 panel. So that may lower your resale value.

Amen....it was only my wife and daughter in the car when it was hit....in a church parking lot.

I JUST HAPPENED to be driving by the church parking lot and saw them standing outside the car and stopped in to say "Hi" when my wife told me that car that was driving away had just hit her....

I thought about that for the briefest of moments, but this is NOT a repair that I want to pay for out-of-pocket, so through the insurance it is...

I just want it fixed properly so I can enjoy it while I have it.

Just got my estimate from the insurance company..... $4,700!! Whoah!

Looks like it's split pretty evenly between parts and labor.

Anyone know any good body shops in South Florida?

I thought it would be more than that.

I know of a VERY good shop here in South Orlando, They do a lot of show cars, and when I mentioned silver, they didn't cringe like other shops. They're a shop that people deliver cars from up north down to get their cars painted.

That's one of the many cars they've worked on, I just can't afford their rates.

PM me for info, as I have no affiliation with the company and don't want to start a riot on advertising.

Thanks, XxGoKoUxX, but Orlando is a little too far away for me.

Really, though, I'm surprised at the cost....I was thinking about half that (and being generous in my estimate) at around $2,500. I guess body work is more expensive than I thought....

I know that a quarter panel is generally the rear quarter/side of a car. This being the first time I've ever had one replaced on one of my cars, I have looked around and can only figure (by where I see a gap or seam) that the quarter panel is the whole rear side plus the section that goes over the doors and to the base of the windshield.

Does that seem right?

You are correct sir, I believe they're going to use a cut piece, weld it on, blend with body repair, and paint.

Here is an example on another car:

I'm pretty sure that's what's going to be done, too.

I took the GS to Lexus of North Miami, one of the few "Lexus Certified" Collision Centers in the South. I hope they are as good as they sound. I still don't have my GS, but hope that it will be ready by this Friday or Saturday. I can't wait to pick it up.
