Is this for the upgrade to gx460 parts or is this just new gx470 parts?

I second the Powerstop Z36 kit. Very noticeable braking power!

Replaced the front brakes today as the wife's vehicle had some front shaking during braking.
Upgraded to the GX460 front calipers and rotors, and used the Power Stop kit KC5873-23. Only difference between it and the -36 kit was the pads and price.

Fairly easy and quick to do.
I opted to not use/add stainless brake lines as it's the wife's daily road/driver, and the current ones were ok.

So, to save time and fluid, I just hung the stock calipers to the side with wire.

In order to do so, I took the metal plated holding the metal line to the rubber and unbolted the bracket that they went through.

Cleaned the new rotor with brake clean, and put the new rotor on after using wire brush to clean the mounting surface and and snugged it with the lug nuts.

Bolted the new caliper in place, and then unscrewed the metal brake line from the old caliper and quickly screwed in the brake line to the new caliper.
I then re placed the metal holing plate first, before bolting the bracket back in place.

Put in the pads, anti rattle clips, pins, and pin clips.

Rechecked the all the bolts and torqued to specs, added Dot 3 Brake fluid to the brake reservoir, then added a clear hose to the bleeder valve to see when bubbles are gone, and bled the brakes. Add more fluid to the brake reservoir when finished.

Keys point- I didn't check the dust shields and had to remove the front tires once everything was installed to pull the dust shields away from the rotors, as they were rubbing and making a terrible noise.
There is a recommended break in technique for the brakes on Power Stop Brakes webpage, and I have always followed that for Power Stop Rotors/Brakes.

God Bless,
David B.

Default 479 to n460

I wonder why they dropped the 470 and started the 460?

Beautifully done video. Taking your advice re conversion to the 2010 4runner OEM Toyota parts (same part numbers as Lexus). Do you use the torque specs (123 Nm) from the 2007 GX470 for the new calipers bolts?
Thanks very much.

Not sure the wife would appreciate your statement about keeping the old brake lines!

Probably emissions and mpg laws.

Agree on changing the brake lines. I had mine done last year and they were fairly firm, heading for "hard and crunchy"

The GX460 upgrade makes sense. I had recently put back on my EBC slotted/dimpled rotors with new Wagner ceramic pads. The pads are interesting, the friction is mounted to aluminum backer, not steel.
So far the EBC/Wagner set is holding up ok.

They are available on eBay. There are several resellers and they are cheap.
