Got my son a 2006 GX470 for his first ride.....we are about to start playing with it. About to add brush guard, roof rack, and convert the allow wheels to "black" wheels. We want to "lift / raise" it a little.....I know this is a broad question....but recommendations on adding a little height? I have seen everything from lift kits to (no lift kit) adding 35s and cutting out various components so the wheels won't rub.

So.....would love to hear some thoughts / recommendations.

We are in a similar situation. Picked up an 05 this week for my son with two common issues, blown 6x9 door speakers and one slow leaking rear bag. We are also looking at a small lift and doing the air bag delete. The FB group provided good feedback on options and my local Toyota off road specialist recommended the Dobinson kit but total parts and install with airbag delete kit was $2500. My son is using his money for the accessories so we are looking around at other options or just save up the additional funds he needs and bite the bullet. The only other thing we'll do is tires and thinking of going with 265.70.17 ATs.
