Default Anybody update their nav software yet?

Just wondering if anyone has updated to the new version of the nav system software. Can you see any real differences in the software? Is the install really as easy as popping out the existing DVD and popping in the new one? Have road changes been updated?
Thanks in advance......

WOW.... $1400??? I can't believe a dealer will rip you off that bad....
I've seen posts showing the DVD anywhere from $275 - $400, so
are they charging a grand to stick in a new DVD?

Before I bought my '04 GX, I ask a few dealers about the update cost and was told from $250-450.

Regrading the version number, it's in the book, but I don't remeber how to find it. It is a function on the nav screen.

I'm sold on the Toy/Lex nav!

For just a simple update of a few roads it should not cost more than an actual DVD cost, not like the construction workers of America decided to move all the roads

Exclamation Clarification

This DVD only updates some map areas. Before paying any money, you should be able to get from the dealer (I did) a list of states and the changes made in those states.

I personally was hoping to upgrade to the Gen4 software. Is this possible? Does anyone have the ability to get this? Is our hardware even compatible?

Ok, I got the the new NAV DVD v3.01 and did the upgrade myself, no sweat!! All I did was open the NAV DVD player under the passenger's seat, pressed the eject button, out came the old DVD v2.01. I then slid the new DVD in and presto! I was done. I turned the car on and off to make sure everything was happy, and then drove arround, search for POI's ect... All was well. There were no system updates, and I am not sure if the updated maps and POI's are in my area, but by God I have the most up to date info avalible If any of you out there wish to do this don't think twice as far as the ease of installation goes. DO NOT PAY A DEALER ONE CENT to do this for you, it is just TOO easy.

lexusnc,
Other than more POIs & updated maps, anything else worth to mention? Does it run slower due to a much bigger POI database?
I saw on the other discussion forum saying, to upgrade to the complete gen4 software, the ECU unit (i.e. nav processor) needs to be replaced. They said the gen4 nav can give you a 3D view when you are zoomed in to the most detail range. Not sure if this is true, has anyone try the new nav on GX470/LX470/LS430?
