Rear Wheel Bearings Replacement Story
In early December I started hearing that rotational grinding in the rear of my ’08. I’ve had it one year, 130,000 miles on it. Took it in for it’s inspection and didn’t say anything… shop passed it. Brought it back, asked them to look and they told me both were worn, and it would be $3,000 to replace them. WOW. I said, “no thanks”.
Long time shop I’ve used but things are going downhill there - lots of complaints. As concerning as the price was, I was equally concerned about this having been missed during the inspection.
Took it to my side mechanic guy; got the job done for $1500 and on top of that the rear brakes were just about metal on metal.
Gotta find a new primary shop...

Sad to see a formerly good shop decline like that.
Any idea what the cause is?
New owner? Steep rent increase? Money troubles? Drug problem?

New owner. Old one inherited from his father. Totally awesome operation. Six shuttle vans, let me supply parts… you could drop it off the night before with most anything wrong and it would be fixed by 1pm next day.
New owner said nothing would change, then moved most people to commission. I’m done, can’t trust ‘em
