Default AC Leak Detected - how to fix

Hello Friends,

I was able to detect the AC leak in my 2004 GX470 using Arctic Freeze R-134a Refrigerant Kit, and the leak is at the passenger side. My knowledge around AC is very weak. My question is, can I fix this my self? not sure what parts are needed. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much

To fix that properly you need a vacuum pump and a manifold gauge set. Can guess and throw parts at the problem then take it to a shop to be charged. Here's what the system looks like

Page 4 of diagrams shows the O-rings.

A/C is my weakest area of knowledge so I'm not much help.

Fixed. Cut the tubes and used Dorman splice kits. Was successful on the third attempt. Please note, every time the repair fails, you need to cut the tube due to the dent the splice kit makes on the tube. Need to see how long these will hold. especially in Texas Weather.

Did you have to charge the system on both repair attempts, or can you use compressed air to leak check before adding refrigerant?

yes, but the tech guy I know quickly found the leak and stopped the charge (this happened twice 2 x $100) . Third time, I bought the manifold and did it my self. No Pressure test. Only vacuum test.

The AC worked till few days ago. I had to take my GX to haul a large cast iron part in the trunk and immediately AC stopped working. May or may not be related to the load. Now I do not have AC. Need to investigate. Will keep the forum updated. If anyone else had this problem, I would like to know.
