New key & fob from dealer- re: lock/unlock programming
New key & fob from dealer re lock/unlock programming
Lock and unlock on the driver door and passenger door works for all 4 doors and rear door. Keys work to lock and unlock all doors.
I used techstream successfully to register two new keys I bought and had cut at Lexus. They both now start the GX.
When I go thru the fob lock/unlock program process (insert/remove key, open/close door, key on and off, hold lock/unlock,etc), I end up with only the driver and 2nd row driver side doors locking and unlocking once the programming is complete
Then each time I press the lock button on the fob from inside the gx, those two doors again lock and unlock twice. Nothing happens on the passenger and second row passenger door locks.
Then when I exit the vehicle, close the door, the lock/unlock buttons on the fob do not work, as if I have programmed nothing.
Ideas?
Update**
I didn't understand the one lock/unlock = registered properly and two lock/unlock = process failed.
I found out that the hold of the lock and unlock buttons on the fobs at the same time needs to be done, a few times for me, until you only get the one lock/unlock action.
Both are now programmed to lock and unlock.

Still regarding keys, has anyone tried the Costco promoted "Car Keys Express", they are a mobile key company that will come to you at Costco while your shopping and cut the keys. Has anyone used the service and how much do they charge and do they code at the same time? Thanx community!

Buy a cheap VCI J2534 connector
Use your laptop
Follow these steps to install a virtual XP environment where tech stream is installed and run, then follow the steps to connect and program your keys.
Finally do the door/key process to program the buttons on the fob.
