Anybody have the moonroof wind deflector on the GX?
Got my new Black/Gray GX yesterday morning, and I love it. I was looking at the moonroof wind deflector on Lexus-parts.com, but wanted to know if anyone had done it and what they thought. My fear is that it might make the wind noise WORSE, but that's probably irrational. I thought it might look pretty cool, but I can't find any pictures of one with it. Anyone have it?

I *personally* don't like the look of such a luxury vehicle with a wind deflector.....to me, it looks like a Camry or Accord, HOWEVER, it does improve the wind buffeting when your sunroof is fully open.
I have seen someone reduced the height of the wind deflector so that it does not 'stick out' so much on top of your vehicle, and that one looked pretty good........
Then again, with your vehicle being black and getting the smoke color deflector, maybe it would look good!
Good luck.

Anybody have the moonroof wind deflector on the GX?
I've had a GX for about 7 months without the moonrrof wind deflector. I've never seen or felt the need for a wind defelctor on the GX as the standard popup wind deflector for the moonroof has some form of "noise reduction technology". What this appears to mean is that the popup wind defelctor adjusts its height depending on your speed. At slower speeds, the deflector is at its highest position. When your speed get's around 55-60 mph (not exactly sure at what speed this happens) the deflector automatically lowers down a little to reduce the noise generated by an open moonroof. It seems to work pretty well and you don't have the distraction of a big piece of plastic on the roof of your beautiful GX! Besides, my past experience is that the wind deflectors are just another way for the dealer to squeeze you for another $100 profit from the sale as the plastic deflectors do not help a whole lot. (IMHO)

Add on Sunroof Deflector
I agree with Bear 1. My GX is very quiet, I suspect the add on plastic thing would increase turbulence, plus in my opinion they look cheap.

it wouldn't look good with a wind deflector. that's right, it might cause a terrible windnoise. I'm happy without a deflector and i've had my gx ever since Jan. 18, 2003. the only problem was that the auto open and close of the moonroof sometimes doesn't work. had that happen to me for a week, then the auto open close feature worked again. so from now on, i won't use the moonroof that much.

I don't know how adding a moon roof deflector could add turbulence but, the sound is definetly less with it on than off. I order the Toyota one from Japan and can't be happier. The "built-in" one is dependant upon speed and I scratch my head to figure out how it actually reduces noise. The deflector is somewhat deep which is great when you want to open the roof a little, to get some air in, and don't have to worry about rain, leaves, etc.

Well, I ordered it and it came in the mail this week. I plan to sit it up there and see how it looks before I decide whether to mount it or not. My wife will be brutally honest. If it looks cheap or stupid, it will go back.
