My parents are about to order a 2004 GX 470. I am trying to help them and have done some research and test drove a few vehicles with them.
The GX has everything they want, and he was quoted $50K for a GX w/ Navi and w/out the DVD system on a cash deal - which doesn't include tax and fees. Is this a decent deal? It's below sticker, but only about $2K. Can we get them lower since they are doing cash?
Also, is their any advantage to waiting on any improvements made to the GX over the next month or so? I read in some other threads that a few problems were solved, but a vibration problem is still peristent.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
Bests and Merry Christmas

We paid cash and got $2k off sticker, so I don't think that should affect your deal too much.
I do know that there is a new suspension coming out, as well as a rear-view camera through the navigation screen.

I just took delivery on my GX last Sat. All said and done, I paid 49300 for a GX with EVERYTHING except KDSS. I dealt with a dealer in South Florida, and the trip was worth every penny. The sticker was $53593
It is a 9700c with Roll sens, backup cam, etc..
I now have 1300 miles and have yet to feel a vibration in the truck.

Randy20G got a great deal on his GX. I got mine about a week and 300 miles ago with a $1600 discount off sticker on a loaded 9700C with all the toys including KDSS and rear seat entertainment for the kids.
By the way, no vibration or clunking problems yet.....keeping my fingers crossed!

That KDSS system is an option in 2004, so make sure you select it when it comes to completing the paperwork. Your parents are getting a pretty good deal and I would go for it. This is the first SUV from Lexus that my wife is acually looking forward to driving. She thought the LX was a bit too large and the RX was just plain ugly. In her words, "If we are going to buy another SUV, I want it to be a real SUV."
Best of luck!

The two major ones are the driveline vibration and the driveline clunking.
I'm not sure if they have fixed the A/C cycleing on & off due to excessive pressure & heat yet.
I do believe they have finally fixed the inacurate temp. gauge reading though.
Good luck, I hope you have better luck than I have had with my TWO GX's
Right now I am having a problem with my ML system, the right speakers keep fading in and out, this after they have replaced the amp once already for a different problem with my ML system.
The GX is in my opinion a day late and a dollar short. May be the worse release in Lexus history, time will tell on that one, but it is looking that way.

That is some serious bad luck. I would have expected those types of problems from BMW and MB, but not Lexus. Have both your GXs had problems?
I was watching CNBC the other day and I believe it was on Squak Box where Maria Bartiromo was interviewing a few of the execs from Toyota. She asked a very good question to the VP for N.America as to whether it was fair criticism of the automotive press, who have recently said that Toyota is extremely slow on the production of new and fresh models. I forget what his response was to that, but it was pretty much a sight tight and wait and you'll see what we unleash type answer. I only hope that is true and that they do not compromise quality and reliability when release the new models (i.e. Nissan/Infiniti).
