Kbach.....

Corbin's looks like a winner. I wish I had known about them in early January.

www.corbin****ch.com

If you click on the hyperlink above it will not come up. You have to replace the **** with S H I T
The "S" is the last letter of corbins and HIT are the first three letters of "hitch.
So much for filtering.....

Can anyone tell me for sure, technically why you are not supposed to put a tow hitch on GX's with KDSS?

There has to be a good reason. I have heard speculation but it doesn't make too much sense to me.

Default Corbins customer service sucks

Corbins will not sell to individuals and unless your in SC you can't get it installed by them. They want my local Lexus dealer to order and then me buy it from the dealership. I called the dealership after they mark the hitch price up to 575 dollars I was like screw this. This hitch costs as much as the factory hitch and toyotas hitch.

I just had a drawtite installed and will post pics tonight total cost with install was 350.00 looks pretty good but does not fill in the bumper cut out but for saving 250 bucks I can live with it.

Tony.....

Your DrawTite Hitch looks very much like the Curt Hitch I had installed on my GX. Now, if I could find a replacement for that short piece of the bumper which has that cut-out in it, I would be very satisfied with the hitch. The hitch is no lower than the tail-pipe and hides the spare-tire.

Default Cap you are right

Cap my hitch and your hitch look the same under the car Ill take pics tonight when I get home from work. My hitch receiver sticks out a little more. They did not have any problems with the electronic harness with this hitch it opens the flip top easily without hitting anything.

here is what mine looks like.

Tony.....

This is what mine looks like. Now, If I could replace that piece with the cut-out, with a plain piece, I would be happy.

Tony......

Am I seeing things or does this GX's bumper not have the cut out ?? If it doesn't, there is hope in getting a plain section.

Default I see it

Hey Cap I think that GX did not come with the tow prep package like ours so the cut out flap is different.. I wonder if there is a part for that flap a service guy told me it costs 280 bucks for a new one.

Tony......

I would be tempted to pay the $280 for the plain flap. What is there now, bothers me.

Just keep in mind that they changed the hitch design in April '04. The position of some bolts changed, moving the end of the receiver back a bit. At this time they also changed the design for the bumper filler piece. It now protrudes more than the earlier GX hitches would. Any new GX on a Lexus lot would have the new design bumper fillere.

I'd say If you're going with an aftermarket hitch that drops down a good amount, buy the color coded 'Non Towing package" bumper filler.

PS: good luck getting a factory tow hitch if your car isnt TO equipped
