Default Exhaust Tip

I was at the dealership today and noticed that the GX on the showroom floor had the stainless steel exhaust tip. Surprisingly to me, it was factory installed and appears as a $75 option on the window sticker. I like the way it looks, so walked over to the Parts Department and asked how much the exhaust tip costs and the response was $85.71 and they would have to order it. Hmmmmm. A little later, my salesman came in and I asked him about the lower factory cost and he thought it might be due to the volume cost savings. Anyway, I asked him to check it out and get back with me on "my" price

I've been eying the stailess steel tip, but have been reluctant to install just one tip, as I like things to look symmetrical. Putting another exhaust pipe on the driver's side should not be a problem for a competent welder, but I face the dilemma of not having a notch in the bumper, like its on the passenger side.

Does anyone know if putting a notch in the bumper is a problem ?? Wonder what type of shop would do that ?? Perhaps an autobody shop ??

Choose 4runner, then year, then look for exhaust.

That sure looks like the one I have. Mine has a drain hole just inside the lip of the exhaust tip (easier to type than to say).

Can anyone post a photo of this Lexus Exhaust tip on their GX470? I believe it's a nice added touch to the exterior of the GX (also inexpensive compared to other Lexus options too). Thanks!

Capirato,
How does the Proxenon HID kit compare to Xenondepot (Ease of install, quality, reliability,etc....) I'm expecting my 05 GX next week and serioustly thinking about ordering a kit now.

Many people seem to favor xenondepot over proxenon, what's your take? I like the color effect but I'm concerned about the 20% decrease in light output of a 6000K v/s 4300k. How is that degradation compared with the factory intalled headlights?

Thanks for your inputs.

orclex.

Default Wow! That is CLOSE!!!

Allison - That company you listed is less than 3 miles from where I live. I might have to take a quick trip to see if they have any of the V8 superchargers sitting around gathering dust when (if) I ever get back there in the near future...posted from a hotel room in snowy Wisconsin....

Orclex,

I've installed two Xenon Depot kits on 2 '04 GX's. My Father-in-law went with the 6000K on his. I must admit, the bluish color does look impressive when looking it at, but it definitely puts out less light than the 4300K kits I just installed on our GX. In the end, I'm glad I went with the 4300K kit on mine. The light output onto the road is unbelievable.

The kits are so easy to install and everything is plug and play....no splicing. Xenon Depot is running them at a special of $399 for the 4300K kit through the end of December.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your inputs, I emailed steve today to enquire about the discount. I will probably go for the 6000K despite the extra $100 cost.
