Uphill Start Assist
Does anyone know how the Uphill Start Assist is really suppose to work? According to the manual, it is suppose to prevent the car from rolling backwards on a steep incline when the foot is taken off the brake pedal. I tried it a few times. The car would roll backwards for about 3 feet or more then noises resembling the anti-lock brake engaging would occur to slow the rolling, but not stopping it completely. Then if I depress the brake pedal the car would jerk to a stop. Is this normal?

Yes, unfortunately that is how the system works. I too was very dissapointed in how that system operates. In my opinion the system should hold the brakes until you press on the throttle. The operation of basicly useless, as it rolls as much as any other car would on a uphill. Sure the system slows the progrees down a bit (with a lot of fuss) but if activated for more than a few seconds will turn off.
The DAC feature should also have a mode for normal driving mode, intstead of just 1st gear in Low gear operation.
Good concepts, but need to be more adaptive and practical to everyday driving and not just extreme off-road use.
My pet peve about the GX is the brake pedal feel. I think it needs a little more boost and I wish the brake pad grab on the rotors engaged sooner in the pedal travel. Stopping is good, but pedal feel is on the soft side.
Otherwise the GX is a great truck.

Of course I wish Lexus could have provided that pedal feel without having to pump it 3 times first.
Try it and tell me what you think.

Didn't drive the truck for a few days but tried out pumping the pedal a few times as suggested. I think it does help the braking feeling, although not every slow down and stop is the same.

my experience is that, i feel and get what u get holeinone on certain inclines, but there are places that when i release the brakes, it wouldn't do that sound thing, and Yes i'm sure it is an incline. I really hate the way they made it. they would probably fix that system on the newer redesigns in the future. oh Well!!!
