Check it out, the 2004 Toyota 4runner got 5 stars and the GX470 got 4 stars. Also the 4runner was picked as best choice. So this is telling me that owners are having more problems with GX470's then 4runners, or GX470 owners paying $50K+ have higher expectations??? I'm betting on the expectations

No you need to go to the new cars on the left of the screen and select 2004 4runner and GX470 and then it will show the result. I guess it does not store the results that's why they weren't there.

Have you driven a GX lately?, have had mine for 3 weeks now and havent had a mishap, before I decide for the GX,I test drove the 4runner, x5, m420, the bmer and nerc are pure power, i did not wanted to end up upside down, the power is too much for me and my family, dont know were in the world can the 4runner beat the lexus in quality, leather is of higher quality, fit and finish is superior, audio dont mention, not because I owned one I am going to brag about it but everytime I drive the GX I like it more.

I hear you Lex. I'm sure it has to do with the number of complaints per number of vehicles and what they were complaining about. Also I'm sure it has to do with the cost comparision between the GX and the 4runner. Since they are made in the same factory and are really the same vehicle (GX is dressed nicer) it's got to be the $$$'s.

Example - On this forum you have a big thread about driveline vibration/thumping etc. On the 4runner forum not much mention of a thumping/vibration complaint. I think part of it is that people that buy 4runners think of them as 4X4's and trucks that are really nice and high quality, where people that buy GX's think of them as luxury vehicles and then complain if they act/feel like a 4x4 truck??? What do you think?

Just shows that you "can't" just take JD Powers for face value. You have to get into the "Type" of owners head.

I wish JD Powers or someone would give the real numbers on specific complaints. Example on my wifes Nissan 350Z the front tires feathered within the first 5K miles, nissan replaced them for free and did a alignment. When I checked the 350Z website it seems to be a on going common problem that Nissan is trying to address. If we had nunbers like out of 20K 350Z's 5K have had a tire feathering problem (complaint) now that would make the information more value.
