Default Wich car would you choose?

Hi everybody!!

I own a 2004 GX470 actually. Before this daily drive car, I owned a 2002 X5 4.4

Now both are great cars for me. But now I have a friend of mine offering me a good money for my 2004 GX.

Mi idea is sell this car to him and try the new model of 2004 X5 4.4

What do you think. Any input or preference on those cars?

The GX is more smooth, more confortable
The GX has the navigation system and the Mark levinson DVD stuff
The GX has the rear camera and rear air conditioner

The X5 has a lot more power
The X5 has better handling and breaking performance
The X5 comes with xenon lights and is 6 speed auto trans!

Any input or recomendation will be appreciate it!

Thanks!!

I've never driven an X5, but from all the bad things I've heard about it (including a horrible review on the Consumer Reports tv show) I would not even consider buying that truck.

In the end, it all comes down to your personal preference. You have to ask yourself what options/features are more important to you.

I second that motion... your own list even points out that the GX is the better overall vehicle. The X5 seems to only be better if you have the desire to go really really fast in an SUV (which I never quite understood that fascination. I prefer to go really really fast in an actual sports car... maybe I'm just strange ) If going fast floats your boat more than overall comfort, quality, bla bla bla... then go for the X5, otherwise GX all the way! To each his own...

You could still sell it and get a 2005 GX with more power!

Default I bought the 04GX over the X5

My neighbor and I both ordered the 04 4.4 X5 with sports package and put down 4000 each. When my X5 came in I test drove it and loved the ride but the interior sucked. Storage was not enough and the electronics seemed very dated. I went over to Lexus and fell in love with the GX and bought it. My neighbor bought the X5 and so far he has had one bad torque converter and his rear air shocks cannot level themselves out so he gets error messages. So far its been in the shop for 24 days in 5 months. He was telling me the other day he wished he would of bought the GX and now is looking for a new SUV if BMW does not give him a new X5 which I doubt they will.

I intend to keep this GX as a daily driver and then buy a porsche 997 for fun car. That way I can have both worlds and a vehicle that can truly excell at their intended purpose.

Well I guess that you should dump both and buy a real sports Suv if you can afford, The Cayenne Twin Turbo, that is a fast suv, not the 2 pig *** slow cars that you mentioned.

The Cayenne is fast but it has a porky sty interior with tinny sounding doors. Now maybe the X5 has better breaking performance than a GX (which I think is true) but it also has good brakes.

If you don't mind the poor quality of product, service, etc. You might want to include VW Touareg V10 TDI in your shopping list.

I mean 4.4 V8.

But the spec in my country are a bit different than us specs.

The engine has 18hp more and a little more torque also.

333hp vs 315hp us version!!

Are you calling me stupid because I consider 235H.P. enough with me, wel, well, let see who is stupid after this;

1- I had test driving the x5, range rover, toureg ( this one I deleted due to lots of negative reports) and the cayenne, too much power and not a reliable family SUV, kids are 10, 7 and 4 year olds, too dangerous for me I am a lead foot.

2- It rains here like it snows in Siberia lots of mud after the rain and the GX is a all time 4x4, very reliable here cant use much power anyways, 300+ H.P. will make a SUV unreliable in this situation, specially with the type of tires they come with.

3- When I really want to show off, I drive my Bmmer, very well highway manners and lot of power, I drive alone no kids allowed.

4- my wife loves the GX and kids are happy with DVD entertainment system, I am happy also with navigation and the Mark Levinson sound system.

5- looking at thing's I am stupid like you said I spent my money on a vehicle I am happy with( 1 of them) ( I own 2 more which I am happy with also )it is a 3 month old just 4598 miles, it came fully equipped KDSS, navigation, Mark Levinson, rear spoiler ( your's did not came with it) and lot's of guddys I like, your's did not come with, this truck drives smoother than the Bmmer, the Bmmer is stiffer, you know I dont like it, I LOVE IT......
