2004 or 2005 GX

Jeremy - I had an 2001 CLK55. Mine was idenitcal to yours with two less doors and a zero->60 in 4.9. Great cars and your right, they outrun 95% of everything out there. My predication for the 05GX is a different rear door/hatch (maybe powered raiser)? That may be something worth the premium and a good reason that Lexus is keeping mum about it.

Lexus is in the business of making $$$ and they could easily put it "all" in the 2005's. But why do that when they can save a little for the 2006, 2007 etc.. The automatic rear lift gate would be nice, but you would need a garage about 30 feet tall or else you'd have to back the car out a couple feet then open it. LOL.
I love the vehicle and feel that 3 out of the 4 sides are the best looking---but the back is a Frankenstein look. LOL

If the 2005 MY rear was updated, then you would get a lot of pissed off recent 2004 owners, but a change like this may also be unlikely, but not impossible.

As you know, I had considered waiting for the 2005 model to come out partially because of the upgraded engine---but it really is unneccessary. The bluetooth would be nice, but definitely not worth more than a few hundred dollars--thus the 2004 proves to be a great selection.
I ended up getting a blizzard pearl with tan interior, Michelin tires, Navigation/Mark Levinson Stereo, Rear Seat Entertainment System, Third Row seats (obviously), Hitch Bracket, Preferred Package, Rear Spoiler, Exhaust Tip and Tow Hitch with Ball Mount. He gave us 4 wireless headsets too.
When I negotiated the deal I didn't even consider the hitch and items related to it and they pretty much threw that in (at least that is what I thought---it must have already been in their pricing model for my sale). My purchase price was $46,700. MSRP was $51,939 (the sticker) before they tack on the advertising fee.
It has the 04.1 Navigation software, was built in 09/04 and is a 9700G model. Now the problem is that it's my wifes vehicle and I'll have to wait for the weekends to drive it. All in all, when you factor in the "free" third row seats this car was a steal. Considering the rumor that the 2005 base price will rise $1500, you'll once again have to pay for the third row seats and the fact that they probably wont deal for many months---you just can't go wrong. And that's coming from me--a person who was on the fence.
Great website and such knowledgable and helpful people. Thanks for helping my decision!

Congratulations, after reading this thread I went to check out the '04 GX470, awesome truck, my wife fell in love with it and the IS300 was all but traded in. Just got back from our dealer and they aren't getting anywhere near the invoice and this one was a demo with 3000 miles that they were "giving me a deal on", 51,800, give me a break, when I suggested somewhere around 46k-48k they just about laughed in my face. Maybe I should take a road trip to Arizona

If you look at my posts I had a clear turning point and decided to go out and purchase the 2004 model. So the next day I made a visit to a few local dealerships and it seemed like I was coming from left field when I asked for $1500 over invoice. 2 out of the 3 dealers didnt want to go below $3000 over invoice. The last one said he'd offer me the price he sold it to brokers for (Which was $1500 over invoice)--but then they tried to stick the financing to me.
Just so you know, it probably has happened to many others of us on the forum, but you just need to find the one dealer/salesperson/dealership who will want to move a vehicle at your price. They're out there, it just may take a little persistance.

I received a call today from a local Lexus dealership who told me they have 2005 GX pricing now. He told me the base price will increase $400. More than that I don't know as I had to run to an appointment.
I will gather info and post it as I receive it, but since I'm a proud new '04 GX owner my pace will undoubtedly be slower than those of you who are still deciding. If anyone has more info please post it as you can.
