Anybody know of another option to increase lowbeam headlight output OTHER than the HID kits? Perhaps an aftermarket bulb that would do the job ?? (granted, not to the extent of HIDs... but most likely very much less expensive also) I just dont know about spending $500-$600 bucks just to be able to see well at night - and my dealer also has recommended NOT going with an HID kit.... which I was (and kinda still AM) considering. I dont need to be SUPERbright... just bright enough to see well without the highbeams.
I think the factory lowbeam output is horribly dim.... Im not so much interested in the HID "LOOK" as I am in just being able to SEE satisfactorily at night with low beams on..
Much obliged

Anybody know of a replacement bulb that is brighter ? From reading previous posts it appears most are satisfied with the factory halogen light output... so maybe there's something wrong with mine... or ME.. But I would appreciate any direction...

Sylvania Silverstars are popular and much better quality than some cheapo "HID look bulbs"
Also check out our Lighting forum.

GXLUV,
Just bite the bullet and get HIDs. You wont regret it. Over the eyars, I've tried PIAA, Silvanias, etc., etc. and have spent more money tring to find the right bulb than if I were to have bought HIDs from the beginning. $0.02

The factory halogen bulbs have a cap on the end of the buld which limits the light that is sent forward. You could look for an aftermarket bulb that does not have the cap on the end, which would send more light forward. It won't be a big improvement, but might give you about 10% or 15% more light.
I have not looked at SilverStar bulbs for the GX470, but I did install some EuroLite bulbs in my wife's RX300, those bulbs did not have the cap on the end. The lights seems only slightly whiter and brigher, not as much as I expected, but it was an improvement. We used them for about a year before trading it for a new 2005 Sienna with factory Xenons.
The XenonDepot 4300K kit for the GX470 is very bright. You will be sending roughly 275% to 300% more light to the pavement. I have this kit and it is unbelievable.
Have fun doing your research.
