Is this a good deal on 2005?
Hi all,
Got quote on a 2005 Blizzard Pearl, nav, dvd, etc. 2 questions please:
1)is $47,300 good?
2)what is a Rosen DVD player? Will it integrate seamlessly?
Thanks all. Hope to join the club soon.
Mike

I would avoid the Rosen DVD player like the plauge. It is wal-mart quality. If you give me the option codes I can tell you what kind of deal your getting. (I work at a store)

After-market DVD players in a GX470 ? Dealer tried to sell me on the idea as well (They make more $'s if they can get you to bite). They do not integrate with the NAVI screen. Aren't covered by the dealer but rather a 3rd-party outfit. I'd pass...
As a point of reference mine DOES have the factory RSES option and NAVI. I paid $46,409. I bought mine in December. Mine is a 2004.

Sounds good especially since, well my area dealers sell the trucks fast so it's not like they sit around and you can wheel and deal, it this price or that guys gonna buy it

If this isn't a sports model you shouldn't be paying more than $2000 over dealer invoice (note this is not MSRP). If it's a sports model you should be getting at least $2000 below MSRP.[/QUOTE]
Since the GX470 have about a $4000 price increase from invoice to MSRP, either way your paying the same thing.

I do not like the OE DVD b/c it is only 7". Rosen is one of the best aftermarket DVD's. I got a Rosen A10 (10 inch screen) which has a lifetime warrantee. I am very happy with it. Although it was not directly connected to the head unit, it is bigger and has better picture than the OE.

Of course there is an additional 2% "Dealer Holdback" that the Lexus dealer makes on top of the spread between invoice and the price they acually sell the car. (http://www.carsmart.com/content/rese...cle/aid/137568) That's 2% of the MSRP of the car. This money gets "refunded" to the dealer by Lexus (really Toyota) after the sale. Taking my hypothetical car and suggestion of purchase price that means the dealer would make the following on the transaction:
($56,081 - $2000 - $48,048) + ($56,081 * .02) = $7155
That's obviously way above the services actually rendered to me and the dealership's cost of doing business, but if you really want the car just close your eyes and write the check.
Folks, do your research and run the numbers before you buy your car. You'll be able to deal much more effectively and with more confidence if you realize how much the dealer is going to make on the sale of the car under negotiation. They could sell you the car at invoice and still manage to keep the lights on.

Even the base price of the car has a spread of $5953 ($45,775 vs $39,822), and that is with no options which typically have a much higher % markup than the base price. In the case of Lexus, the spread between invoice and MSRP is about 15% on the base price, and about 25% on the options.

Daryl - I think he was referrring to "Street price" differences. An analysis was done on this board back in December. At that time comparing the exact same equipment on identical models, the spread was $4,000. For example, my 04 with everyhting but KDSS was $46,409. The best anyone could do on an 05 with everything but KDSS at the time was $50,600 (or about a $4,000 spread). Since neith of these had sport, it was an easy and valuable comparison.
