I have searched the site, but didn't find a post. Has anyone experienced a rattle coming from the overhead console area...only when the moonroof sunshade is open? It just started a few weeks ago and is driving me nuts. It is like something is loose in there and the pressure of the sunshade closed is enough to stop it. This sounds crazy, but it seems that it is worse when it is sunny and the temp goes up. We are still having some cold days here, and if I open the sunshade then, it hardly does it at all.

I am going to have them look at it when I take it in for my next service visit due in about 500 miles. But, I wanted to check to see if anyone else had this problem and how it was resolved. Any feedback would be appreciated.

It is most likely the sunshade itself rattling. I notice it too, but rarely leave the shade open...not for the rattle, but just because I like for my tinted windows to stay "dark".

Ah ha! Good thing this was brought up by someone else this time. That rattling is coming from the moonroof itself. I've had that for 2 years now and all this time I was thinking it was the cladding. Well 1 winter night, I decided to open the moonroof. so i did and i noticed that there was no rattling. Then when i decided to close it, i did and there was the rattling. at the stoplight, i pressed on the edge of the moonroof, BINGO, it was that. I tried closing the shade, it muted the rattling from the moonroof

anyone know if there's a fix or TSIB for this??

Sounds like you all have different problems than mine. Mine is not the sunshade or the actual moonroof, but the sound is coming from the overhead console when the sunshade is open. Regardless whether I open the moonroof glass, it still makes the rattling sound (pretty loud...can be heard over the Levinson). The pressure of the sunshade closed against the overhead console is enough to stop the rattling.

I just had the track drive replace last month due to the moonroof rattle. The service manager could not get it to stop, so he replaced it. No more rattles for now.

For what it's worth, I had a rattle up top which sounded like it was coming from the overhead console. Turned out that it was the screw clamps on the cross-rails on the roof that were loose.

I have what sounds to be the same rattle.

When I open the moonroof shade, I hear the rattle almost directly above my head. Based on the other posts here, I'll have the dealer check the screws and the tracks.

a rattle and sometimes a clunk. The crossrails were originally tough to tighten, I thought the screws were cross threaded, but after tightening they worked normally.

Well, today I found the rattle. I opened the sunglasses holder and put my hand up inside and pressed the interior upwards. THE RATTLE STOPPED. Somehow this overhead console has come loose. Any suggestions or wait for the dealer (hopefully they won't create additional problems).
