Default Black Pearl Emblem for 2005 GX 470?

My local Lexus dealer says the dealership normally charges $795 for the black pearl emblem for the 2005 GX 470. He says that he can charge me $550 instead, which he considers a "deal." I'm currently awaiting delivery of my 2005 Silver Pine GX 470 and am considering whether to have this black pearl emblem done or not. (1) Is that indeed a "good" deal for purchase and installation of the black pearl emblem? (2) Also, I contacted another Lexus dealer who told me that Lexus discontinued the black pearl emblem, and that it isn't even available for 2005 GX 470s. Is this true? (3) Do you think the black pearl emblem looks good on the Silver Pine or not?

Thanks for your help!

Do you mean Black Pearl Emblem? I never seen a Black Chrome Emblem. If it is Black Pearl Emblem then yes Black Pearl Emblem looks nice in silver. I have them on my GS.

Why not remove the emblems and just paint them yourself? Following is a link that explain one process. On my next Lexus I will probably do it myself rather than to spend a couple of hundred at the dealer.

I have them on Blizzard Pearl and it looks great! The dealer charged me about $800, which I thought was very high, if you can get them for $500 then do it! I have not heard of them being discontinued, if they do then it is a sad day because they really complement certain colors.

Thanks for your input. I guess the one dealership that said the black pearl emblem was discontinued is incorrect, as others seem to have them. A local auto bodyshop that I trust is able to do the job for $400, which sounds like a good deal.

Thanks again!

If you are referring to the emblems in thii thread, $500 or $800 is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. It is a DIY mod. Just take your time and with the savings, go on a VACATION!

You may want to try my dealer here in Dallas.

That's the price for the part, I assuming the price his dealer quoted included removing the old badges and placing the new ones. So have you to count labor cost.

re: price was for emblem parts only

Loflin.......you're probably right.....I guess that price would be parts only.

Not sure how difficult it would be to apply the emblems.

I do know that about 8 years ago I bought a used black Mercedes 190E and it had the gold emblems......I didn't like the way it looked so I went to the Benz dealership and bought the chrome emblems....as i was about to leave I asked the service manager about how you put them on.......he said...."ah let me do that for ya" and he took the old ones off and put the new ones on in like 15 minutes....NO CHARGE!

I suppose that was the "exception".......

In my opinion the dark emblems would only look good on the lighter colored GX 470's......since mine is dark blue......I think I will stick with the chrome.

(ps: This isnt mine....just a pic I ran across)
