2005+ Enter Destinations While Driving w/o mods or splicing
This was posted on the GS forum. I frequent there a lot. It seems to have been confirmed on all 4th Gen nav systems (the GX for 2005+ being included by extrapolating). I tried it on my '05 RX and it worked. I thought I owed it to my buds over here in the GX forum who aren't lurking in the GS area. However, 2003 and 2004's CANNOT do this. I hope you enjoy this. Be safe, be courteous, don't you do it while driving, let the passengers do it or else pull over.
If anyone can find out how to get to this service menu on '04s (if it exists) I will give you a cookie!

Hit MENU button on the right side of screen you should come to this window.
Click on Volume. Once in the Volume MENU, click on top left where the picture of the speaker is
Then Click on bottom left (I know there's nothing there but click on it
Then Click on top left again, the picture of the speaker
Then Click on the bottom left again
It should bring you the SERVICE MENU
Once here, click on OVERRIDE but keep holding it til you here a beep. Once you hear a beep, the OVERRIDE should be highlighted like below.
You MUST do this everytime you start your car. I have confirmed that this works on 2005 LS430 as well. Have not tried any other cars.

Perhaps your 05 is different, but on my 04 this is the sequence:
With ignition key on.....
Press on "I agree"
Press on "Menu"
Press on "DVD"
Press on upper left corner of screen
Press on lower left corner of screen
Press on upper left corner of screen
Press on lower left corner of screen
Press on lower right corner of screen
Press on "Override" and hold until a beep is heard
Press "Back"
Press "MAP / Voice"
That's it !!!

yes that method works too bad it still wont allow you to play DVD's on the screen unless you have the handbrake up.... anyone know of a way to play dvd's on the front screen besides splicing a switch in?

You are mixing apples and oranges. This thread is referring only to the Navigation System.

Works for the Gen 5 Nav too
I was goofing around with the Nav in the new IS350 (Gen 5) - the Gen 4 override (as posted above for the '05/'06 GX) works on that one just fine (and does a good job on the sales guy who swears you can do that).

How can we do it so....
I can confirm that this mode works on 2005 Gx470!!!
1) What i would like to find out is there a way to make it permanent so we don't have to do it every time we start the car?
2) This mode is not working for the phone functions i still have to stop to use touchscreen for the phone options for example make a phone call from the phone book!
