Default Next gen GX

So I thought it's about time to start asking what people think they'll see or would like to see on the next gen GX. It's easy to ask for the stars, but realistically what are you all expecting out of the next gen and will you be buying it?

First thought from me is to have a 3rd row seating area that have more legroom. Doesn't have to be as much as the 2nd row, but it should definately have room so folks above the age of 4 could sit there with some level of comfort.

Second: allow the navi system use (by a passenger, of course) while driving. In our Acura MDX, we used the navi system all the time by the passenger. I know you can override that by getting into the service menu, but you have to do it each time. I shouldn't have to purchase a 3rd party solution to get around that.

Third: Make KDSS standard--or at least easier to find as an option. I have it on mine and cannot imagine being without it.

Fourth: iPod integration as a factory/dealer option. (I have a 3rd party one on order -- http://www.vaistech.com/aic100i.html)

How is that for starters?

....

I like your thinking. I have KDSS but these others are at the top of my list also.

Ditto to all those...

Now, how about 2 models to choose from: GX470 (or perhaps GX500 with cylinder disabling for better gas mileage) and a nice GX650h (a hybrid beast).

my biggest gripe is the short seat cushions - they simply do not provide enough thigh support. With as much legroom as this GX has, you would think they could make the seats deeper than a futon.

How about Xenon as standard as well as having the 3rd row seat as a REAL option, in other words be able to get ML/NAV without getting the 3rd row seat. Put AC vents for the back seat (not 3rd row). Better heated seats that really heat up. Side mirrors that are retractable. Power rear quarter windows. Auto-dimming outside mirrors. These are just a few thoughts.

In addition to ALL of the above:

1. Larger trunk space
2. Rear window in the barn gate to roll down like the 4runner.
3. 3rd row to fold flat instead of lifting upward and tucking to the sides

Good thread MO

In no particular order

- I would like to have the 2nd row fold flat instead of up against the front seats. Those extra inches make a difference in carrying some stuff

- Roll down rear window in the rear door

- IPOD integration - You could remove the CD player for all I care

- Complaint from the females in the clan - They want independent heater for the 2nd row. I like it cold they like it hot

- More padding on the drivers armrest

- If you don't want to put actual gauges on the dash, instead of idiot lights, they give me a screen on the nav with virtual gauges

Definitely more padding on the front door armrests. My 1 month old GX with only 1600 miles on it has a permanent depression where my left elbow rests on the drivers side armrest. Unacceptable in a 50k plus vehicle.
A tailgate which swings up.
A longer bottom cushion on the front seats for those of us that have long legs for more support.
A drivers side rear view mirror which doesn't give a distorted view of objects in the mirror.
Clean up the center console. It now looks very busy with all the buttons, etc. Very un Toyota like.
A standard feature so the owner of the vehicle can decide whether they want the DRL's on or off without having to get the dealer to do it. And thats usually a chore since most dealers don't have a clue how to turn the DRL's off. I had to give my dealer the volumn # and chapter and page number of the service manual on how to do it. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
