XM Radio Pearls
Based on my recent experience (Dec. 2005):
1. The '06 LX470 kit won't work in my '05 GX470 (Levinson/BlueTooth). Dealer tried this first, had to remove it.
2. The '05 LX470 kit works great. Delear replaced '06 kit with this, worked fine. We were able to get an '05 kit as of Dec 30th, 2005.
3. There is no interference whatsoever with the GPS functionality.
Enjoy!

Perhaps I missed the answer to my questions somewhere in this thread, if so please excuse me. Now here's the question, I have a Vasitech unit in my '04 GX and it works fine...never a problem. I'm in the process of purchasing an '06 and wonder if there is any advantage to one of the Lexus XM kits to the Vasitech. If so, will the '05 LX kit work in an '06 GX and what are the part numbers?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I and several others used 86100-0W120 but I heard it had been discontinued. I ordered from Lexus-parts.com and used the forum discount code for a great price.

Thanks for the info Tin Star - I sent an email to Sewell to see if I can purchase that part number.
As far as the install - do you recommend buying any spare panel clips, etc. that might break easily during the install? I am pretty handy, but know how quickly things that seem simple can get out of hand! I read your instructions and they seem relatively straight-forward... any tips on removing certain parts, etc? I am concerned about the wood trim around the NAV mainly.
Also, does the display cut off the song/artist names using the XM kit like some others have posted?

I was very nervous too. I didn't break anything except a clip at the back door floor trim. Radio comes out so quickly it is amazing. I think it was seven minutes from start to radio hanging out.
I don't remember how many digits are displayed on song / artist. The GX is my Florida car and I am at home in Dallas so I can't check that for you. When you call Sewell there is only one guy who handles internet parts sales and you'll have to ask for him. Let me see if I can find his name and I'll edit this post if I can find it.
Couldn't find his name but here is what I show for his number (866) 775-7685 x-2868.

Anyone else have this cut off of Artist & Title?

Also - do you use the normal "tune" **** to scroll through all of the channels?
Can anyone with the Sirius system tell me if the song/title displayed is more than 10 characters?? Thanks!

Yes, the sat. can mess with the gps. Its the Sat. Ant. wire. if it is routed against the GPS Ant. wire. I have had to fix many Turks because of this. the GPS wire is routed on the right side of the radio. Its a black wire all buy it self. If the Sat. wire is near or tuching the gps wire you will loose your gps.

I have an 06 GX does that mean I need to get the the 06 LX XM kit for mine? It seems those of you with the 05 models had to use the 05 LX kit? or will the 05 kit work regardless?

Has anyone with an 06 with NAv/ML had the XM kit installed? & what year LX, ES kit did you use.
I am in the process of having one installed and want to buy the right year kit.
Thanks

I asked the tech about the kits and he indicated that the 06 LX XM kit hat a plug for the RES which was different than the 05 LX XM kit. The tech tested the ES 330 XM kit which worked in my 05 GX. I would assume the ES 330 kit would be the one to get. The tech also indicated that the XM kit has a long harness which allows for more flexibility in placement of the unit.
Good luck. . .

I have a 06 GX470 with NAV/ML/RESE/Bluetooth. After reading ALL of the past threads on the Sat (xm and sirius) integration to the factory sudio system this is what I have come up with as it applies to my GX.
1. The 05 LX470 XM kit is no longer available - part number 86100-0W120
2. The 06 LX470 XM kit will not work due to different wiring harness - 86100-0W200
3. The 05-06 ES330 XM kit (only one version as there were no ML/non ML versions when I asked the parts dept) part number 86100-0W100 has been REPLACED by part number 86100-0W101.
So I ordered the new updated ES330 XM kit (86100-0W101) and will see if this will work.
A suggestion if I may. I think one of the older memebrs or moderators with first hand knowledge of this situation should have a faq. sticky thread stating which xm/sirius kits will work with which years GX's. That would provide great help to those that are new and asking the same old questions again not to mention wasting alot of time having to read thru all the past threads from searches.
