just got my true flow air filter in the mail. i was gonna go for a trd filter, but once i saw the video and read the reviews i decided on the true flow.
****UPDATE****
after a few days with this filter installed, i hit 20 avg mpg on the highway!!!!! Note: this is with
265/70/17.
not even with the factory sized tires was i able to do 20 avg mpg.

eh, i guess it's still good. no need to throw it away

install true flow filter foam side down

close it all up and put the cover back on. not sure if this is needed for our cars, but with honda's i would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU. i did it anyways.
went for a test drive and the first thing i noticed was the acceleration. there is a definite increase in power.
best $40.00 i've spent.
here's a link where i bought the filter from (video is there too, definitely worth watching)

Last month my truflow needed cleaning, so I removed it to clean and used the stock filter for a day while the truflow was drying... MAN what difference in performance! Felt like the GX was being choked with the stock paper filter.

I'll try one.
FYI. I have used only K&N filters for years on all my past cars.
It is worth noting that if you don't oil a K&N or other reuse filter correctly after cleaning, it will leach out oil as well. I recall the K&N website had a note somewhere about possible senor damage if over oiled or not wiped prior to first install. But I could not find it today.
However, from the trueflow website:
Will True Flow filters get oil on the mass air flow meter?
NO. True flow filters use a tackifier that bonds to the filter material and will not leach out onto sensors. Make sure to follow the instructions and remove the excess tackifier before installing the new True Flow filter.

Generally speaking, a good paper element air filter (such as a Toyota filter) is VERY effective at removing particles, and foam element filters (most of the aftermarket ones) are very ineffective. I would want a second opinion on the effectiveness of the foam filter in question -- something more than the company's video advertisement -- and I'd want to know if it performs that well when oiled at the proper low level that will not destroy the MAF. You have to be careful of following advice that you see in advertisements. Otherwise we'd all be running the goof-ball Tornado device that is advertised to deliver massive HP increases and fuel consumption reductions. ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
And sorry, NO airfilter exists that can improve low speed throttle response or low RPM power when replacing a good condition factory Toyota filter (unless it comes with a supercharger attached).
The factory filters simply are not restrictive to flow under those relatively low CFM conditions.
