you won't be able turn off the CEL if you replaced your cat with a test pipe. you can try to wrap the o2 sensor that was removed from the cat with foil. not sure how long you'll be able to get away with that, because the CEL will come back, just not as quickly.
if i may ask, why did you remove the cat? a high flow cat would've been much easier, no cel, and no nasty smell.

Um.... What is a CEL, and why would anyone want to remove the Catalytic Converter to begin with?

I can see someone trying this on a 10yr old Civic, but a newer GX?? Um......No.
The best suggestion I have is for the poster to suck up his pride and go back to Lexus for repair. Sounds like BIG bucks..... Cats are NOT cheap. Hope it can be reused...

Must be for the special-edition Baja 1000 TRD Lexus....

A "CEL" is the Check Engine Light.

As you know, a myriad of things could be triggering the CEL (e.g., back pressure change, O2 sensor etc.). You might have more luck on Toyota-4runner.org, where I believe a few chaps have set-up their 4runners for off-road use only.

Does CEL stand for Catalytic Converter Emission Low?

Default Removing the catalityc converter gx 470 2005

thanks a lot for your comments. The problem is that i am in the carribean and we do not have the same service of our dealer than yours. They told me that i have to solve the problem by myself and the only option is remove the cats.

The warranty word dos not work y these countries.
