Question 2004 GX470 Nav overide

In reading these posts I have come to the conclusion that there are no fixes for my 'older' system for putting in XM radio or overriding Nav system to allow setting destinations while moving. Is this correct?
Also I'm sure the salesman mumbled yeah when I asked about this car being bluetooth phone ready but how do I find out for sure before buying a bluetooth phone?

I don't believe any of the 04 GX's are bluetooth capable and only the Mark Levinson/Navigation equipped 05-06 GX's are able to use a bluetooth phone.

Hi Julieh,

No the GX470 04' is NOT bluetooth capable, this was a new feature for the '05 model and carried over to the 06' model. As for the Nav overide "fix", it really is an easter egg, or back door for the Lexus Service Techs to change some of the settings of the GX. So far, only the 05' easter egg/backdoor has been posted.

That said, I'm 200% sure that such an easter egg is available for the 04' model, just hope some kind soul will know about and post it here on the forum....

Good luck...!

Have you tried--

Press Menu
Press Volume
Press the Top Left Corner
Press the Bottom Left Corner (there is nothing there)
Press the Top Left Corner
Press the Bottom Left Corner

A new menu screen will come up

Press and hold Override for 5 seconds or until you hear a beep.

This allows my passenger to put in addresses while moving in my '04

Great news! I was told that this "fix" was only for the 05' model and that it wouldn't work for the 04' model...

Using Cap's post from above , I am able to overide the Nav system on my 04 GX. Yesterday after doing this, my passenger started inputting an address when up popped another screen which I had never seen. It contained a bunch of NAV system checks and the strangest one was a button allowing me to turn on my back-up camera while driving forward. What a sight it was driving 70MPH and looking at the road behind you! In addition, the only way the diagnostic screen would turn off was to re-start the engine. Now, I cannot duplicate it.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know the exact sequence?

Default This works for all 04 Navs from Toyota

I did this to my wife's Toyota Sieena minivan and my friends 4 runner and it worked.

Little confused. I tried this on my 04 but it did not work. When you press menu, do you press the dvd button on the screen on the upper right? It is not lit up when I go to menu?

You have to be fully stopped and parked in order to press the DVD button.

This doesn’t working on 2004 Lexus GX or LX, because “override” function not available on service menu. Only after 2005 years.
