I read that the Lexus tow hitch would cause interference with the KDSS rear sway bar and hydraulic cylinder which activates the KDSS. I don't know if it actually would get in the way.

This is old and incorrect (starting with 2005) data. Search this forum for more info (and perhaps more confusion).

In 2004 MY when Lexus was first putting KDSS in a very limited number of GXs, the current hitch design did not work, so they would not allow both. Again, that affected a limited number of GX for a limited amount of time in 2004.

All throughout 2005 MY you could order Tow and KDSS.

Mine is a Nov 2004 Build, delivered Dec 2005, Sport pkg (ie. has KDSS) and came with the Lexus 6500lb tow hitch installed. I pull a 5000lb boat/trailer with it.

The other falicy was the weight issue. Apparently, Toyota/Lexus had certain penalties if their volume of trucks WITH towing exceeded a certain level. Therefore, Toyota/Lexus artifically restricted availability of the towing option on ORDERED trucks. One of the EASIEST ways (for Lexus) was to remove the ability of the KDSS as an option for towing packages. Amost ALL GX's can have a hitch added. Most also come with a wiring harness.

Hey all,

I am changing my truck from 03 to 06 and was wondering if the TOW HITCH assembly is compatible inbetween the two?

Also what prices did you guys get for an install, I assume outside lexus since f**ers chare around $250 I think... ?!? should not be more then $50 I would imagine??

Oh btw does the Bumper color coded cover come with the install kit?
