It is NOT included. Dealers just order all of them with the 3rd row seat/rear AC as an option package. If you, as a customer, special order a new GX through your dealer without the 3rd row, then you save about $2k. Otherwise, you pay.

It turns out that in the last 3 or 4 months of production of the 2004 model, Lexus did throw in the 3rd row package for free, but they only did it for that short time.

Lexus did that to move those GX's off the lot because they knew when most folks heard about the 05 power increase and a few other changes, the 04's would have sat on the lot for a long time.

Instead of comparing model years, I think you should compare different models.
The 2003 GX has model 9700A, 2004 GX has 9700B/C….
There’s fixes or new features added between models.

Not exactly true. My truck is a 9700E and there was at least one more run, that put the lumbar control on the front passenger seat.

I am not sure if this acceptable to forum rules or not but what is a great site to look for used cars especially in the Atlanta Area. If this is not allowed, than please ignore this post. But what is a great site for used cars? Is there any more dominant for the Private Sellers?

Mink,

Try EBAy with a search option for "miles" within your zip code... Good Luck...

Mink.....

If you are looking at a '04, make sure it has a back-up camera.

I can't imagine driving the GX without it.

is it really necessary to have a backup camera? I thought it was always just a little thing to show off

Guess not

If you have the opportunity, try backing up with a camera equipped GX. Having the wide and bright field of view is a great safety feature. The rear view mirror is only needed when driving in the forward gears..

Default Be carefull with the '03's IF your using for business

One thing to remember is that the '03's do NOT qualify as a 6000lbs vehicle (for tax purposes) so if your seeking this truck as a component of a business, you MUST get an '04 or newer in order to meet the 6000lbs specification.

I agree on the backup camera. I have an '04 TL with NAVI and the backup camera was not an option. I have gotten so use to the GX's rear view (on the NAVI screen) that I find myself instinctively trying to do the same on the TL and then when I realize the mistake I always wonder why the camera isn't standard on the TL as well. You can see people walking behind you (when in the parking lots at the mall), you can use it in combination with the ride height controls to easily attach a trailer to the truck, etc. A great value IMHO

As a parent of two small children, NOT having the backup camera was a safety feature was one thing I was NOT going to compromise on. I've ready way TOO many stories in the newspaper of how a child wanders behind a SUV right before it backs up and the parent heartbreakingly runs them over....

G*D forbid this had happened to me, it would not be something I could live with...

***Getting off of the soapbox now****

It is definately a "COOL" toy though... I especially love it when I'm "forced" to Parallel park!!!
