We will pick up our new GX 470 Tuesday after Christmas( What a Christmas present!!) I am going to install XM radio soon. Has anyone installed an XM antenna in their 470? Any suggestions on how to run the antenna cable would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding satellite radio, it seems most of the users here haven't done the installation on their own and have opted to have the dealer install the RX330 Lexus FIT KIT for the GX.

I haven't seen a single thread here about someone doing it on their own...

Alex, thanks for fast reply. I have already ordered the SoundLinQ (Model SLX) - Auxiliary Input Adapter with a Satellite Radio Interface and the Terk universial XM tuner and even the tools needed to install add on "stuff". I installed XM on my Jeep, so I have an idea how to go about it.

Congratulations for getting a '06 GX.

I understand that there are kits for XM and Sirius from Lexus, but not specifically for the GX. However, I understand that there are kits for the ES, RX and LX that will work with the GX. Some here on this Forum have had the kits installed.

From what I read, you will be able to access Satellite Radio via your AM dial. Wish I was more familiar with the situation.

I have SIRIUS installed on my 06 GX470..
I had my dealer install the ES330 kit... If you do a search there is only ONE MODULE for ALL lexus. But there are different fit kits for diff cars...

AM button allows you to access b/t AM ->SAT1 -> SAT2 -> SAT3 presets...

even though there are not AM/SAT button, it will work. My had to fight with my dealer dude that it is all PLUG n PLAY... they are just scared to touch a car cuz they have to follow printed directions for any installations...

Thanks to all for helpful comments. We are really excited about our new GX. We have owned Jeeps for the last 15 years(trade every 3 years) and feel we are ready to upgrade. We were satisfied with the Jeep but, you know, once you see and drive the GX, you are hooked'

Me too. I have the Sirius in my 05'GX470, and I installed it myself couple weeks ago. I used the ES330 kit and Sirius aftermarket antenna. It was not difficult to install and I love the integrated function with the car. Plus it sounds significant better than the Sirius Sportster Replay I was using.

If you have done stereo installation, this will be a walk in the park. Congrats on your new SUV.

Our GX is Ash Blue Mica with ivory interior,3rd row seats,rear spoiler,hitch, chrome tip and accessory package.
