Default Noise from sunroof when open...

seems to me that when we have the sunroof TILTED it is loud, I was wondering is this normal for these cars? Does anyone else feel this is the same with their GX, if so has nayone found a solution to keep the noise in the cabin quieter?

thx
dan

that defeats the purpose of the tilt function to me doesn't it? its not a pulsating sound its actually wind noise. only thing IMO that opening the back window would accomlish is letting even more noise into the cabin.

u know what i mean?

thx

You state your problem and ask for help, yet when given a suggestion you poo poo the answer apparently without even trying it. Based upon your original description I would have given you the same answer.

i didn't mean to sound nasty or anything i jsut was looking for a solution other then having to roll a window down to lessen the noise above my head while driving with the sunroof tilted. i haven;t experienced this in any of my previous newly built cars and was wondering if this is common place to hear so much noise coming thru the sunroof with the GX's.

sorry but that was my thinking.

does everyone else experience this?

thx

I don't find it to be a problem. I think what you're describing occurs with most cars when you "vent" the roof at highway speeds. I also own an `05.5 Audi A4, and I noticed that when I vent that roof there are accordion-like rubber slats along the sides of the moonroof which "soften" the noise. Perhaps that would be something to think about in your case.

try one of those tinted plastic wind deflectors that mount in front of your sunroof.
If I am reading correctly, you dont like the wind noise but it is not a turbulence issue (which cracking a window would help)

I guess we have 2 BMW a 3 series and 5 series and neither is anywhere near as loud in the cabin, actually they hardly make any wind noise at all. maybe i am just used to the sound or lack of sound that those 2 cars produce. It just seems a little loud to me.

thx

aerodynamics are quite different on a tall wagon than a sports sedan... but you should give everything a good going over just to make sure there isn't a defective part or anything amiss.
