I thought it was originally for the entire tray myself, it's a bit pricey but then again if you purchase OEM equipment, what isn't? At $25.00 for the entire assembly I found that to be reasonable...
...HOWEVER, once I found out it was only for the insert and that it was just a piece felt, I quickly dismissed this....
Example: RSES remote control unit, (OEM version) LEXUS wants to charge about $300 for this unit, in reality this IR unit costs maybe tops $30.00 to make.... Same thing goes for the wireless headphones @ $125.00, Toyota dealers charge around $85.00, similar units sell in Best buys and other Electronis retailers for around $30~$40 dollars... OEM dealers price gouge.....

lonewolf69 - sure it's just an insert of felt? According to what source? I would assume it's the whole slide-in assembly, since even the part that is the spring-loaded "release" that covers the standard ashtray looks different.
BTW - I've heard some people gripe about that big metal cover in the standard ashtray, and how it gets in the way of retreiving change out of the ashtray. I believe it is there on purpose (safety) to cover cig butts and the ashes that are in tray, when actually used as an ashtray. Another reason why it looks this piece is gone from the optional $25 change tray discussed above.

i usually just put the change on the 2nd gear shifter (so it won't move around and rattle) and when i get down from the car, i put it in my pocket. i dont like leaving coins around in the car. besides, there are no tolls in my area so no need for handy loose change
