Anybody have any experience with hooking up the dyd player so it can get regular TV signals????? Im confused about how to procede with this...

For regular tv signals (which come free of air) you need Tv Tuner not a dvd player... U can hook up a tuner with preferably a Video Booster giving signals to your rear Monitor...
Do you have RSES or just regular Nav??

My GX has both, a TV Receiver and a DVD Player. The DVD Player connects to the TV Receiver which has a NAV-TV module which allows the signals to play through the NAV Screen.

If you really want to have fun, you will need to first get one of the video interface boxes to accept several signals and play it on your Nav screen or RSES (if you don't already have it)). Then you just need a receiver to receive the signal and allow yout to select the channel and covert to an audio video signal you can plug into the interface box. To have the most fun with this, get this
