I have a new GX 470 and am having trouble figuring out the Rear entertainment system. Can I control the DVD from the front screen or do I always have to use the remote? Can I play a DVD in the rear and at the same time listen to music in the front? I would appreciate it if someone could help.
Thanks

You can control the DVD from the front when parked, otherwise you need to use the remote. I think there is an instructional pop on the rear screen thought that you need to hit OK on the remote for. Yes you can use the DVD with the headphones on in back, while you listen to the radio or CD changer. Set up the passengers with the headphones, and then click the mode button on the steering wheel wo get to the FM or CD mode.to transmt through the GX's speakers. Hope that helps.

I may be confused, but in the confined space of an automobile you wanted to have to different (competing!) audio sources playing thru the speakers (one source in the front and one in the back)? I don't believe that would work well at all, even if you could get it to work.
Understand a 2yr old will probably not want to wear headphones. The only alternative I can think of (aside from you becoming Barney's second biggest fan!) is two buy a set of small speakers that plug into headphone output. They make them for iPOD type devices. Pretty small speakers, some use batteries for power. You could plug these into the rear headphone jacks and set them close to your child. Perhaps that would give her some localized audio, but at level that you could still have some background music for you from the car speakers.

I do that - I bought a small set of folding speakers at radio shack that can can be plugged into the headphone jack. They look like a large silver cell phone. My 3 year old daughter calls them her "Dora phone". While she listens to that ( they don't play very loud), I can still listen to a ball game, etc., throught the main system. The speakers did require an extention for the cord, but that's not a problem.
