You could be a complete moron and not install this unit wrong - the only hard part is getting the dash apart, but after that all the plugs can only go one place - nothing to get wrong.

That being said, my first lockpick in August was completely dead on receipt, customer support was great, they got right back to me and shipped me another one. It was good for a couple months and now is flakey, not always doing the over ride for nav, DVD function works sometimes othertimes it cannot be selected. Emailed a week ago and no response thus far on my latest issue, emailed again today. If the thing works properly it is absolutely worth the money! Hoping I can get my latest issue fixed and not have any additional problems.

I guess it took a minute for the the GX to adapt to the new unit and software.
I was just wondering if you were still happy about your ultimate blue lockpick. I am thinking so hard about getting one but am a little hesitant because I have so many things upgraded with the vehicle such as RSES, dual front headrests DVD players, integrated Vaistech XM and ipod, and aftermarket direct input Sirius. Do you think that I am crazy for being so hesitant or would you rec. that I "go for it" right now? I appreciate your opinion!

How long have you had yours and did yours work great? Did you install it yourself? Is that hard to do?

Well, looks like they have lapse into their old ways - having problems with my Ultimate Lockpick being flakey and not working about half the time. 3 weeks and 4 emails later and the only response I have received was to resend the second email without the attachment of the first email.

Looks like customer support after being really good over the summer when I talked to them has reverted to how it was a year ago when everyone was complaining about them.

Proceed with caution.

Just a heads up -

They are no longer an official vendor on CL, so you cannot contact them with a CL screen name anymore.

Same here. My ultimate lockpick won't work for the Nav, but it does work with the bluetooth and DVD.

I did here back today after my 4th email and they told me it would help if I sent what was wrong, which was in my first 2 emails to them, so I sent it again and did not here any more back today. It's like night and day, in August when I got it and my first one did not work at all, they called me back right away on a Saturday, got me on with a tech and sent me a new on within 3 days. This time it has been 3 weeks of email and they still are asking me what is wrong. When it works it is awesome, hoping I can get it resolved, they certainly have the product that does everything I want and no one else seems to!

Default Standard Lockpick works great.

I have a 06' (w/built in rear entertainment system) and bought the standard lockpick. Originally I was going to order the Blue Lockpick but was told by Kelly at Coastal Tech that it was not a simple plug and play installation and would require going behind the dash, which I wasn't willing to do. I found that my phone reception using bluetooth connectivity doesn't work very well even without a blue lockpick and I ended up always having to switch it off and talking thru my handset, so having handsfree using Blue Lockpick isn't going to fix that issue. Lexus needs to work on that with phone manufacturers and make it easier for you to upload your phonebook or else manually enter phone numbers into the car's phonebook and work on making voice quality better.

But I can speak for the standard lockpick that allows me to use the navigation system while the car is in motion and I have had no problems with it. It is very easy to install and worth the money if you use the map a lot. But what the instruction manual they send doesn't tell you is you have to allow the bypass sequence to complete before changing the screen. Putting your car into reverse before the sequence has finished will interrupt it and you will have to manually push the "i agree" button to allow it to finish.

I initially ordered the blue lockpick but called them by phone and after several attempts, I did get thru and they were very nice and willing to change my order over the phone. They did follow-up on my questions regarding sequence interruption and she emailed me back.

Good luck.

I certainly hope things work out for you. I know how frustrating it is when you just want your truck to be perfect, and it seems it's nothing but a struggle from day one.

Does anyone on the forum know of any other place like Vaistech that may be doing these units? I am concerned about the reliability issues and customer service response times if things go wrong. Nothing personal whatsoever against Coastaltech.

I just was wondering if anyone had any new info on the lockpick working or not or any other sites or devices that might integrate well with the GX?

I wish someone else made on - I think the Vaistech units will push the I Agree button, but not do all the other nice over rides!

My woes continue with Coastaletech - after a month of playing email games the agreed to send me a replacement once I got a response - sent them my address info and they said they would ship out monday december 18th - never received anything and just sent my 3rd email asking them where it is - serious opportunity for someone to run a better business here!

You're right about Vaistech according to what they told me about their latest software. Mine got installed prior to their software update so I still have the "I agree" message. Keep us up to date as to your woes.
