sorry to be bringing up this old thread again but..............since my wife got her 2011 COD Black Ops Jeep she asked me if something like the lockpick was available for the jeep. i checked and coastal e tech does indeed make them for chrysler products! i ordered it on sunday and it should be at my doorstep tomorrow or thursday. can't wait to install it. this install will be much easier than the install on the GX plus i'm adding a backup cam too.

that black ops jeep looks pretty neat. I had some aftermarket stuff added on my mygig nav system in my 08 Grand Cherokee. VERY easy to take in/out...one trim piece and 4 screws. I could pull it in and out in under 2 mins. Fantastic car, better than the x5 I replaced it with.

Be careful, thieves prolly know how easy it is to remove that mygig system as well! I think quadratec makes a lock box that covers it while top is off.

just got the lockpick and backup cam for the jeep. the lockpick will be a breeze to set up and install.....the cam will take a weeeeeee bit longer just because i have to run the wires under the carpeting and up behind the dash.

i just installed the lockpick in the jeep. there are now a total of 8 - 7mm screws to deal with. super easy install.

the screws are located in these locations:
1 beneath the sunglass storage compartment located on the top of the dashboard above the stereo.
1 is located directly below the window switches. you have to remove the cluster of switches to access it.
2 are located on the left and right sides of the steering column. obviously, you have to remove the panel cover for that area to access them

last but not least the 4 screws holding the headunit in.

Hey guys, sorry to bother you, but how does the Lockpick work? Does it override the wire that sends the speed info to the nav that causes the lockout? Does the nav still scroll smoothly, or does it not even move unless you have a GPS signal? Thanks!

the lockpick basically unlocks/overrides all of the safety features on the nav system and the phone/BT. with it you don't have to press the "i agree" button, you or the person riding with you can enter an address or make a phone call without having to stop, put the vehicle in park, and pull up the e-brake. that basically sums it up in a nutshell.

it has no effect on the nav units performance in fact the only difference you'll notice is that the annoying parts of using the nav unit or bluetooth while driving are eliminated.
