IMO, only limited production vehicles will be considered "classic" in the future... The new GT40, maybe Vipers and Prowlers and the like... and even those last ones are suspect, as they still made enough of them, and everyone that bought one thinks they are "driving a classic" so they are (relatively speaking) a dime a dozen... The cars that people bought and used up, or where there were very few made to begin with, are usually the future collectibles... Then there is the "cool" factor... there may not be many Pacers left running around, but I don't see them selling like the muscle cars are today...

As such, long story short, highly unlikely that the GX will ever be considered a classic, even if it is fondly remembered and appreciated...

To be fair, I believe commack4 was using the term "investment" to really mean "expense". It wasn't that he felt the car was an investment. He was ticked about buying a $50K+ car, and having "problems" with it.

Yes, and investment when purchasing a consumer item doesn't always mean we expect a monetary ROI. When I "invest" in a vehicle, I spend money for dependable transportation, safety, comfort and more intangible returns. I know as soon as I drive it off the lot it nosedives in resale value, no matter what brand it is or how much it costs.

That was my point, poster was commenting on his frustration with a high dollar car not having a long term problem fixed, then we had 5 post "lecturing" him on how confused he was, about a car being an investment.
