I say GX.

The X5 has several drawbacks.

$450 for 20" run flat tires and no spare is one. Who wants to spend $2k for tires when they need replacing?

BMW is moving away from the dip sticks

Cost. Geesh, $75k for an X5 with a V8. Are they mad?

I wonder if the X5 3.0 will feel quicker than the GX? I am sure the GX will feel stronger due to it's V8 Torque, but the X5 will overall feel quicker and have better handling overall.

The price with all the options is astronomical for the X5. Also the X5 3.5 should be coming out soon, since the 535i / 535xi is going to be available this spring, so if you can wait, wait.

I have a BMW now. I do not like run flats. An SUV with run flats is a dumb idea. I know you can change them but the car has no spare or jack.

The GX or 4Runner for me. The RX is minivanish.

Default A theoretical question on the upcoming JX wheels?

I wanted to ask a quick question. If the new JX has special 20 inch wheels, will those wheels be available for purchase and fit the 2006 Lexus GX 470 and its TPMS so that we can buy them? Any idea about the total costs? I think that factory based 20 inch Lexus wheels would look fantastic on the GX. I think the 17 inch ones are a bit small.

Wife and I are in the same boat. The X5 is out. We laugh at any BMW we come across as we have been there and done that many times and each time got screwed by poor workmanship and poor dealer service plus we do not care for the looks. We are leaning towards the GX over the Benz, Acura, , etc.....due to the proven Lexus brand, interior, and space. We are not looking for a sports car SUV since it is an SUV to begin with. It will never handle like a car and we are comfortable in knowing and accepting this fact.

The new revamped GX has got to come out fairly soon in the near future.

If you see the new 2008 Toyota Highlander Press release (link below). On page 4 it even mentioned that the Sequoia and Landcruiser were up for the revamp in another year.

http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/minis...hlander/pr.pdf

If you can wait, wait. Look at the new upcoming 2008 Highlander and all it's new amenties and 19" Rims?!!!

If you can't wait and money is not an issue get the X5 4.8 with the 20" Rim option, since that is a beautiful vehicle that drives like a sports car. No Toyota truck, even if newly revamped will ever have the same type of sporty handling as a BMW

Once you go to 20" wheels you are no longer in the SUV range, so you might as well get a sports car. I don't know of any 20" wheel tire combo that would give you any kind of off pavement ability. Get a 3,5,or 6 series.

In the magazine that photo appeared in, there was a supra in front, and it said the SUV in back was the landcruiser. Look at the wheel wells and how they are stamped exactly like on the current landcruiser/LX. The other photos I saw (spy shots of a toyota crew testing a SUV in the middle east w/ tape all over the emblems w/ 18" LX wheels from 03-05) showed a landcruiser w/ nearly identical side appearance as the current one, but the front looks more like the new Tundra and rear like a cross between the current LC and Sequoia.

No, I didnt feel faster in 3.0is X5 than GX470. X5 3.0 felt sluggish and felt that the tiny motor is revving so hard to push the heavy SUV. I could be that I test drove 3.0 right after I drove 4.8i. 4.8i on the other hand was excellent.

535i still 3.0 liter motor in terms of displacement but it's twin turboed.

I am more interested in diesel 3.0d than twin turbo gasoline.

Yeah, the biggest issue that I have with X5 is pricing. I know you got to pay to play but come on. They make the X5 insanely expensive. I'd much rather get Range Rover at that price range. I know they are totally different but Range is a Range.
