Question Sirius Satellite Radio Controls ???

The GX470 I bought last month has a Sirius satellite radio built in. There is a black triangle about the size of a hockey puck obn the interior windshield behind the mirror and next to the GPS antenna for the satellite RF.

The system works very well but what I can't figure out is the tuning. When I hit the mode control on the steering wheel it will jump from "SAT1", "SAT2", "SAT3" band etc. When I try and use the tuning dial on the radio, it appears to be hyper-sensitive. Just a small nudge on the tuning **** causes the satellite channel number to jump 8, 9, 10, 12, etc. channels.

Does anyone else have this problem ? I bought the vehicle through a United Auto Group dealership and I think Roger Penske/UAG is responsible for giving Sirius radios installed on the vehicles they sell.

Also, what is the "ASL" button for on the Mark Levinson audio/navigation screen ?

yes the **** for changing stations is VERY sensitive and i sometimes miss the station i want by 4 or 5 numbers. I know exactly how you feel. The ASL stands for automatic sound leveling. The sound gets louder as the car increases speed to level the volume ratio to the noise and vice versa.

Sounds like your system is working as its designed. ASL is the Automatic Sound Levelizer. As the vehicles speed and or interior noise increases, the volumn level also slightly increases.

Smile Update on Sirius

I found out that the Sirius satellite radio skips channels by design until it receives an activitation signal from the satellite that Sirius has to send. You tune the radio to the weather channel 184 and they send a signal that unlocks the radio. It now works wonderfully!

I wish the Lexus sales reps had done this for me or told me I had to do this. They didn't even give me a listing of all the satellite channels. You have to call Sirius on their customer service line at 1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474) to get the signal sent to activate all the channels. I did get a free 9 moth subscription with the GX.

Hmmm. I am picking up a 2007 GX470 this weekend and was told that XM was my only option and that Sirius was not available

Thoughts?

I believe as of now, you can only get Sirius from Penske dealerships but you can get a Sirius kit from www.vaistech.com
