Thumbs up 2007 GX 470 Price

I'm currently searching for a 2007 GX 470 with Nav/3rd row seat/ML radio and the Memphis, TN dealer tells me if I want XM radio I have to take the rear DVD entertainment system option.

Two questions for you to help me with...

1) Is the dealer correct on his view of the XM radio having to be bundled with the DVD system and...
2) What type of discount should I expect off the of MRSP.

Thank you.

Talking Price for a 2007 - Buy a dealer demo

I used the Costco Auto Buying program to purchase my GX. I checked the dealer prices with Consumer Reports, subtracted the hold back and added $300. I actually got a better deal because the dealer I bought mine through had a dealer demo with all the options I wanted and the color I wanted. It had 3000 miles on it so I was able to buy it for about $3000 under invoice which was about $9000 under sticker.

GX sales were slow this fall - about 15%-20% below last year because of gas prices - so the dealers may have been more flexible on clearing out the 2006 GX's which is what I bought.

My dealer was pretty upfront when I offered a way under invoice price. I would definitely recommend buying a dealer demo if you can find one you like. It comes licensed as a new car (it has never been licensed before) and the warranty remains as a new car warranty.

You got a good deal. Based on the fact that LX's are about 35-40% behind last years sales they should discount them by around $15K.

Thank you very much for helping me. Why is it that you can't even trust a Lexus sales person. He also told me the GX470 is a hot vehicle and can't keep them in stock.

Well considering most dealers keep no more than 5-10 on the lot maybe the reason why they can't keep any in stock. We went to 5 dealerships in the DC area and none had over 8 in the lots and of those maybe 2 or 3 was fully loaded. The dealers here wanted to charge $2000-2500 to install aftermarket DVD in the rear. I am glad we held out for a factory installed on.

the reason they are so far down as compared to last year is the vehicle is already on build-out because the 2008 will be all new. lexus just isnt building as many of them, therefore, dealers arent selling as many

To the contrary, I opted to buy a GX without the RSE and apply that money toward an after market unit.

The after market system has a TV tuner, a DVD player and head rest monitors.

Plus, everything can be seen on the NAV and sound goes directly into the OEM system.

most of our customers prefer the aftermarket unit made by invision, it is more versatile than the factory unit

well, its not anywhere in the "hot" sales range like the rx350, but as far as previous sales months of gx470s, it is doing quite well at the moment

I've read in magazines and my dealer said the redesigned GX will be out for the 2009 model year. That would figure since Lexus usually does a redesign every 6 years.

sorry, i was referring to the sales downturn in the lx470 and it being in build-out, not the gx470
