Default Questions about 16" wheels for winter, and Offset

Searched the archives...

I'm looking to buy a set of winter wheels/tires along with some Blizzaks. The OE tires aren't great in the ice.

I've seen some Tundra wheels for sale for cheap (16") in the local craigslist. Anybody know whether these will clear our brakes?

Also, the seem to be a +15mm offset. Will this work OK on our GXs?

Thanks!

Doubt it, almost all 16" wheels will not work. We share the same brakes as the SE 4Runner. Maybe try the steel 17" FJ Cruiser wheels?

I'd try the 4runner wheels. It's the identical chassis (frame/engine/drivetrain/suspension) as on the GX so in theory, they should directly swap.

As long as they are 17" or bigger.

Yeah, they probably have to be 17" ones, since the 17" wheels on the 4runner sport/limited come w/ bigger brake calipers than the basic version. I'm not even sure if they import the 16" ones anymore.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to go the more expensive route and pick up a set of 18" 4runner Limited rims next spring to run "3 seasons". Either those, or the 17s off of the 4runner sport...

You just need to know the offset of your stock wheels vs. the 4runner. I think the tirerack website lists those specs as well as distance between hub lugs. If the offset is off, they might rub against the wheel wells when turning sharply.

Showoff!
Have any more pics?

The 4r rims and the GX rims are the same offset, right?
